i agree. when you're looking at guys in their mid to late 30's like a-rod, posada, jeter, berkman, etc. you have to wonder if it's more than just a slump though
it's hard to blame a 9 man offense on 1 player. the worst offenders this month are gardner (.495 ops), posada (.495 ops), granderson (.571 ops) and berkman (.614 ops)
cano had one really great month this year when he hit .400/.436/.765 in april but other than that he's been the same hitter that he's always been but with better defense
the only reason i haven't given up hope on the sox making the playoffs is becuase of the struggles and injuries that the yankees and rays are currently going through
pettitte's still having trouble throwing at full strength without pain. if he's not 100% by the end of the year, it will be hard for the yankees to replace their best starter this year
obviously the connection isn't fact. but you have to wonder when it bothers one umpire enough to come right out and say it's an "embarassment", how many other umpires it also bothers
it sucks that the red sox get penalized by a wider strike zone becuase they're such good hitters that work the count and the umpires want to speed up the game
