    Ben greased the wheels nicely by blowing up the rotation and bringing in the vastly overrated Porcello and he-is-what-he-is Miley. Add the vastly ordinary Panda and a fielding dud playing out of position for the first time ever and that's not a bad recipe for grenading a season.

    You know very well that I value a good minor league system, I'm just puzzled by Kimmi defending Ben for that and refusing to condemn the awful major league signings and trades. If Ben was such hot s*** why did we finish last 2 years running with all these great homegrown players?

    How do you give up the season's #1 overall pick? For anything other than the best player in the game? Miller has never pitched sub 3.00 ERA and only over 200 IP once. That is a huge overpay. And the Dbacks GM sounds like an idiot sitting there saying "three guys don't make our future." The #1 overall pick doesn't make your future? What the f*** did you draft him for then?

    Now, I realize I still have 700s quote in my signature, but... in a case like this I'm fine with the deep-pocket Sox throwing a chunk of change at Price instead of giving up pieces and picks. Doesn't mean I think the prices these players cost are worth it, especially later on, but this season was Exhibit A against this stupid idea we could get by without an ace. We could have had Lester for less, though.

    Awful. He started out so brightly, it looked like he was going to be one of the best. Such a shame it didn't work out, but this is just horrible. You really never know when it can all be taken away. RIP.

    So I'm going to temper my praise or criticism of such things going forward. Still think Collins shouldn't have gone with Harvey though. /hindsight.
