  1. No, it wasn't you. Common sense says you don't move someone full time from IF to OF at this stage of a career when he's never played a single game. Add in the well documented attitude problems, and why give yourself that headache, especially for four seasons?
  2. Cespedes had that pesky condition in his contract making him a FA, so his value wasn't very high, but it was higher than Rick Porcello. A #1 pitcher into a #3 pitcher. Thanks, Ben!
  3. A certain someone roasted me when I pointed out what a mistake this was when they signed him.
  4. Well it's not like he's signed longterm at least.
  5. Yeah, I saw your name in the Ashley Madison hack.
  6. Fever Pitch was a lame attempt to make a chick flick out of baseball. It still wasn't terrible though.
  7. Unless trading Mookie or Xander gets us an even better player.
  8. Hanley to LF DID look bad on paper, and the results are almost inevitable.
  9. Not sure if you're misreading my reply, but this is my point. Huge overpay for a DH who would break down, and then you dump him eating a ton of money.
  10. Colossal overpay. If that was such a great move why did they dump him, eating a huge chunk of cheese in the process.
  11. But the key takeaway here is: Cherington out.
  12. $215 million for Fielder = a big yes.
  13. Not a fan of Dombrowski. I'll reserve judgment til we see who's got GM duties. It's been a broken record around here, but the roster mismanagement by Ben was ridiculous and has almost certainly assured another last place finish. You don't last long in this game wasting that kind of money with no results to show for it.
  14. My main priority with the OF next year is Hanley isn't in it. I make that happen first, then I decide if I'm rolling out Betts, JBJ, Castillo or trading JBJ for pitching. JBJ needs to give rival scouts a much longer look out there before we can expect a nice haul in return. I am on record here in the offseason saying Hanley in LF was a mistake and I have been proven right. It's one of the worst personnel decisions I've seen from a major league club in a long while. It's a big part of the reason I am not impressed with Ben's roster management the last couple of seasons. I'd love to know for sure what pressure he was under to make certain signings, though. How meddlesome was the ownership group? If they stuck their oar in and demanded Pablo. well are you happy now? I'm sure his jersey is just flying off the shelves.
  15. Check the pay stubs. That's your answer.
  16. Saw Hanley's misfield in last night's game. For the love of CHRIST get him out of LF. If that means off the team and eating a huge part of the contract, do it. Ben needs to be fired for signing him for LF and not 3B, on top of the other 2 or 3 reasons for dismissal. I'll buy some pressure to sign Panda, but Hanley was the wrong piece to bring in and shoehorn into LF. Especially with getting Castillo. Now we know (big surprise) that he can't learn a new position from scratch at this point of his career.
  17. How on Earth could Hanley f*** up 1B worse than LF? He's just got to pretty much stand there.
  18. shittyazz bullpen giving up 8 runs.
  19. It didn't handcuff the team because they have more money than sense, but it still doesn't make it a correct use of assets. We're just going to have to agree to disagree on the wisdom of signing Masterson because we won't change each other's mind on the subject.
  20. Because the wheels had completely come off due to the injury. He had a lot to prove and $9 million was too much when we could have picked up any number of #5 starters who didn't have such a huge question mark. Masterson is the definition of a reclamation project who has to take a low deal with or without incentives to prove he can still pitch. This is just one way in which Ben's management of assets (ie cash) is lacking.
  21. Well there's no arguing with that.
