  1. Exactly. Maybe we don't push the panic button just yet, but being swept at home by an also-ran NL team is not good, to say the least.
  2. I f***ing hate Nava. Can't we move on and replace him with someone better.
  3. Ryan Braun has a face that begs to be punched.
  4. BuUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Grady's good for, what, seven games before suffering the usual season ending injury? You can set your watch by him.
  6. Jeff Bennett of ESPN picks the Guardians to win it all. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
  7. Except there's pretty good statistical evidence that younger and cheaper is the way to go. Most of these teams have a limit to the depth of their pockets - why tie up so much loot in just one player when you need much more than one guy to get you to a title shot.
  8. Words fail me on how f***ing stupid the Tigers are. They learned nothing from the ridiculous deal they gave Prince and just went and did something even more stupid. Don't they have any clue about how most players break down after 35? Why tie so much money into a fading player? Stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid. As a working stiff these deals made me angry - not so much the dollars as the guaranteed nature of them. But now I just sit back and lol and watch the disasters unfold.
  9. I would cheer if Cervelli got injured. Johan Santana barely topping 80 mph. Time to hang them up. Mets didn't get nearly enough value from that contract (a familiar refrain around MLB nowadays.
  10. It's only a matter of time.
  11. ....unless I ran the Yankees.
  12. The NHL have said there won't be six outdoor games next year. Good. Not all of these sold out and the whole thing smacks of killing the golden goose. We've all seen photos taken in the stands, where the rink is so far away. I can't believe people will be paying top dollar for these games on a longterm basis once the novelty wears off and supply exceeds demand.
  13. Wow, Grady f***ing Sizemore. Consider the bottom of the barrel scraped.
  14. So while teams have gotten around to using sabermetrics, they haven't figured out that pitcher is the highest-risk position for serious injury? Shelling out this kind of jack is absolute folly.
  15. lol.... Jacko goes to such lengths to paint everything the Yankees do as a positive. It's painful to watch sometimes.
  16. I'm completely shocked - SHOCKED -that some college athletes can't read or write to an acceptable level - or even at all. I just don't understand how they can keep getting passing grades in their classes in order to keep their NCAA eligibility... Let's get real here - it's time to pay them and have them be employees of the colleges. If they want a degree as well, either throw them a tuition on the side or they pay for it from their wages - but if they can't cut it academically, it won't stop them playing. Otherwise give their spot to a deserving non-athlete student, and let's forgo the time-wasting sham that goes on in the present system. Besides, a player can bust his ass for four years, have a career-ending injury in his senior year and have nothing to show for it. There's a reason most jump ship as soon as they are eligible for the draft (their time in the classroom being for nothing). It's time to give them a decent share of the gazillions of dollars being made off of their labor.
  17. Yep. In the comments on the story I read people were saying it's not even a big rivalry.
  18. Not surprised to read that the LA and second NY outdoor games are not selling out yet. I already thought that they expanded too much too quickly, but of course they are also charging outrageous prices (and already had to discount some for these games). Won't be long before the novelty of freezing your ass off in a baseball stadium watching a rink half a mile from your seat and at a bad angle will wear off. The golden goose is on life support.
  19. I'd like to grapple with Ronda Rousey - if you know what I mean.
  20. Which begs the question why would Tampa Bay be giving up Myers for him? And to a division rival as well.
  21. So now they are calling it Tanaka-mania? Give me a f***ing break. Do people seriously not recall the number of Japanese imports that have turned out to be duds. Might want to dial it back a bit from the $17mil/year demands too, champ.
