  1. Well he couldn't get to much last season, that's for sure ..... BUT, he did have the entire off-season for the hip to heal even more, so I'd have to see him in action to state that he can't even be a backup in the field anymore. And Yazman, his fielding percentage is outstanding because he has sure hands - it's all the balls he can't get to that the average fielder can that's cause for concern. If he can reach it, he'll catch it - but what can he reach is the $1.09 question.
  2. I still say Lowell can be of great value as the RH DH, pinch hitter, back-up 3B and backup to Ortiz if the April-May '09 Ortiz shows up this season's "real" Ortiz. No one wants Lowell and we have to pay to get rid of him... that's dumb. Pay him and play him where he'll be an asset - and he can be an asset as a DH and off the bench.
  3. LOL - The only thing I'll be selling is a point of view I'll expect you all to share. Because... I'm right, dammit.
  4. I joined with the idea of talking baseball and will when the dang season starts. I have nothing to promote, sell or even give away for free. I feel like such a freak.
  5. The U.S. is kicking ass in these Olympics. We have 18 medals overall, second best is Germany with a meager 11. The world is our bitch! WOO HOO!! and I've watched ever boring, lame ass event so far... Yes, I am the one that actually watched the cross-country skiing.
  6. Has worked great for me all day.
  7. Dice-K will be ready for the start of the season. Wakefield probably will break down at some point and need some time off during the season. Someone else will have soreness that needs to be rested or a pulled groin or a blister and miss a start. It's why the truest adage in baseball is "you can't have too much pitching". The Sox pitching staff is deep. Many here have a far darker view of our offense than I do. I think our starting pitching is top-notch - maybe the best in the AL, our hitting above average, our defense will be in the top 3 in the AL and our bullpen - ok, maybe a problem, have to wait and see. This is a good team and I'm expecting another 95+ season. Guys, every spring training there are a list of bumps and bruises (and sore backs). It's fine, nothing new here and injuries are a part of the game. There will be many this season and we'll cope. Even with re-tread starting pitchers last year the Sox won 95 and made it to the post-season. I wanted more but that doesn't exactly suck.
  8. I never really thought of Jason Bay as an A guy and yes I know his power numbers were up there as league best but Jason always seemed to get that big hit or drive in those big runs when the game was well in hand. Statistics may prove me wrong but I just never thought "we need a big hit, woo hoo Bay's coming to bat".
  9. I prefer Wakefield as a starter. He did the bullpen 'thing' for awhile and had moderate success, a little less success in his time as a closer. You can never have too much starting pitching. Even if Wakefield starts the year in the pen (which he probably won't, I suspect they'll start the season with a 6 man rotation), there will be opportunity during the season for him to move back to the starting rotation.
  10. I'm worried about the bullpen. I'm worried about the Sox having a consistent offense. The two things I'm not worried about are starting pitching and defense.
  11. Abolutely agree. Many times the price is more than double the actual price of the ticket what with their "shipping and handling" fees. But unfortunately it's about the only way you can be certain you'll get tickets these days and since he's coming from out of state, I wouldn't rely on the scalpers.
  12. Thank you! I'm not big into introducing myself so this will be it --- HI! my title gives you a good description of me. I should never be taken seriously, I love the Red Sox and I hope in time you will all come to worship me.
  13. Oh Thank God! Once the Patriots were out of the playoffs and the Bruins decided to commit team suicide (yeah I know the losing streak stopped at 10 but they still stink) I was stuck with NCIS re-runs. Spring training can't start soon enough. Even if there aren't any games televised at least there will be daily stories and updates --- SOMETHING!
