  1. Fun fact from the Yes feed: Mookie's initials are MLB
  2. Around here you'll find a little more than half of us are big Theo fans. If Theo retired today, there would be a strong arguement he should go to Cooperstown with or without a Cubbie title.
  3. The Sox don't look like they're going to mash it today. Ugh, I'd hate to see them lose another duel.
  4. I'm pretty much over the whole Ben Cherington argument. That being said, I'm becoming even more strongly pro-Theo. Look what he's done to the Cubs, and its hard not to be impressed. Most of the youngsters coming up for the Red Sox right now are Theo draftees. Betts, Bogaerts, Shaw, Vazquez, and Bradley were all his doing.
  5. We can throw in better middling prospects, players with low ceilings and somewhat high floors. I am worried about this team's starting pitching depth. Buchholz is one bad night sleep away from the DL, and Owens/Kelly haven't looked like MLB pitchers. After Johnson, who replaces the next injury?
  6. My bet is still on Andrew Cashner for middling prospects like a Brentz/Coyle type. He produces a lot of groundballs, has some high strikeout numbers this season. He's on the last year of his contract on a last place team. He's had some injury history and a meh start to the season, so he could be a good get for a somewhat low cost. Julio Tehran would also be awesome, but he's going to cost way more than a back-end starter should.
  7. #1 has to be Wright. If you told me one of the sophmore pitchers was putting up ace-like numbers to start the season, who would have thought it would be a knuckleballer? Shaw and Porcello definitely are right behind him.
  8. Chris Young's OPS is definitely .868 against lefties this year. The other hitters on the team get to feast on the Dukes of the world too. http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/6514/chris-young http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7738/splits/
  9. Technically his name IS embroidered on his shirt:p
  10. Rutledge has been great so far, Chris Young has been a .868 against lefties and Hannigan is a defensive oriented player anyway.
  11. Punto wasn't that consistent.
  12. Technically two of my examples. What I find even crazier is the kind of talent this team has given up over the years for relievers. Reddick, Miley, David Murphy, Lowrie, and now Margot. It makes me very nervous to think about what a big starter trade would cost.
  13. There's nothing better than the shortlived three week stretch that starts with Buchholz being the best pitcher in baseball, and ends with surgery.
  14. I've never been a big fan of the sell-the-farm type trades. You always end up giving up a Hanley Ramirez, Anibel Sanchez, or Anthony Rizzo in the deal.
  15. Carl Crawford has to be the worst of all time. 142 million and he provided 0.3 wins to the Red Sox. I'm still fuming about the Lackey for Craig/Kelly trade too.
  16. Why? He was young and healthy. Its not like insuring Buchholz's baby carrying arm, or JD Drew's vagina.
  17. Chris Sale won't be pitching this series. Sweet!! Price and Porcello won't be pitching this series. s***! Both of those guys get the first crack at the Yanks this weekend. Hell yes!
  18. This contract seems to get worse and worse.
  19. Pablo is 29, and hasn't missed significant games at any point in his career. I would not be surprised if the Red Sox have insurance on him. Hopefully that money will come to good use at the deadline.
  20. It seems nowadays the bar is much lower. Don't be fat. Don't be an *******. Produce good numbers. I wasn't a Drew fan, but if he was in left field right now, I'd probably be thrilled.
  21. Got 'em! Not thrilled about the results from Price tonight, but if he can pitch 7 IP even when he's having a bad night, that's a big help for the bullpen.
  22. There are probably a dozen posters on here who are sick and tired of you jabbing about Cherrington. Some of us have a lot of respect for Cherrington, but most of the others are tired of the same old argument. You don't like Cherrington's job here. We liked Cherrington's job here. We have established this. Everyone knows this. Why bring it up over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again?
