  1. I would be very happy with a contract like Scott Downs's 3/15 deal from 2010. I think that's what they're looking at-- a three year deal for an elite-elite 8th inning guy.
  2. I can't believe all the people who believe the Red Sox will give Madson a big deal. He will make no more than 3/30, 2/24 from the Red Sox-- and even those numbers are generous. Call them stupid for letting Papelbon go all you want, but they're not going to spend a similar amount of money on a significantly lesser player.
  3. Odds are, this is media-created ********. If it is not... the players should suck it up. Seriously, act like men for once in a while. I just walked by Fenway today... and I realized exactly how close Popeyes chicken really is-- we're talking maybe a thousand feet from the stadium. It sickened me. Grow up Red Sox.
  4. I'd love to see you try to use a factual argument to back that one up:lol:
  5. Every ship needs a captain.
  6. Ortiz is in good standing with this team. There very well may be a gentleman's agreement on this-- which I know is rare for Type A FA status, but considering how vocal Ortiz was about a long term contract, it would not surprise me.
  7. It is just 10-20% above what he made in 2011.
  8. Apparently you two don't share a brain afterall
  9. Agreed. Selling low on an injured season from Kalish would be a huge mistake. All three of those players will probably be getting major league playing time by June, I'd bet.
  10. They avoid arbitration with cost controlled players-- ones with less than 6 years of ML experience. What we're referring to here are free agents who have been offered arbitration, who get full market value in the process.
  11. We had heard reports for weeks that Wheeler was not going to be offered arbitration. I'm very glad they decided to change their minds and give it to him. Even if he accepts, I think a 1/4 deal for Wheeler will be quite a bargain.
  12. Not sure where that came from. Only Ortiz, Wheeler and Tek were eligible for arbitration.
  13. There are enough mediocre overpriced NL closers on the market. Why trade prospects for one?
  14. Reasonable? 7 million a year, multi-year deal for a guy in his late 30s coming off two seasons of injury? I wanted to see Nathan here, but hell no to that price.
  15. Colvin hit .150 last year over 80 games. I think they should be able to do slightly better.
