  1. Sorry, I was making a joke off of what 700 said. I have not seen said-pictures.
  2. We're one webcam picture of your package away from calling you Dipre
  3. Two years? What? He hit around low .700 over his time in the minors in 2010, exactly where he is supposed to be. He's never going to hit much higher than that, and if you expect him to, you don't know the kind of player he is. EVERYONE here is talking about him starting in 2013 at SS. That is 16 months away, a ton of development time.
  4. Why is it show me time now, when we're not talking about him being ready for another 16 months?
  5. The rumor I heard was 5/70, so we're talking about a 5 year 120 million dollar contract, meaning he'll make 24 million a year. At that price, even if he pitches like Roy Halladay, there isn't much wiggle room for him to be worth MORE than his contract. His first year is probably going to be okay--not great-- because he'll be adjusting to the significantly better hitters, the wear and tear, traveling, and 100 degree summer days, not to mention pitching an extra game every month. Atleast Dice-k's contract had the 6th year.
  6. I lived through the Dice-k fiasco, I think that is argument enough that this was a huge risk, even if Darvish is significantly more talented.
  7. As it stands right now, the best Red Sox prospects will be ready to replace every position that is going to be open in 2013. Iggy-> Scutaro, Middlebrooks->Youklis, Lavarnway->Ortiz, ???-> Dice-k. They will probably plan on those rookies as part of their long term plan.
  8. I think Oswalt is probably the Red Sox's best option. Even if they have to pay him more in the short run, giving them an elite pitcher for a short time will give them quite a bit of flexibility. As long as he lasts long enough to give Dice-k the time to heal, and/or Wilson/Doubront/Bard the opportunity to get work in AAA, that would still be very valuable to this team.
  9. The Rangers are currently spending about 60% of the luxury tax. I doubt they're particularly concerned with that. $120 million is a lot of money for a proven major league ace, nevermind a guy who has never pitched past AAAA. Think for a second... which major league pitchers have actually gotten contracts that big? Sabathia, Santana, Lee, Zito. That's it.
  10. Edwin Jackson had a pretty awful time in Tampa Bay when he played in this division. I hesitate to move him back here for 40 million considering that he has not been very consistent.
  11. Oswalt is only looking for a 1 year deal. I would not be surprised if it took 1/15 to get him, but I think that's a bargain considering some of the long term deals out there. I do not think LL will hesitate to spend extra money, if it is a one year thing to fix this mess while some of the younger arms move up.
  12. Not sure if you've noticed, but this season sucked, and that happened to all of us. I would definitely recommend finding a series against a non-Yankee divisional opponent during the week. You can save a ton of money that way-- the series against the Yankees/ NL teams, and weekend games can be a lot more money. Boston public transportation is pretty good, so as long as you're in the city-proper, you'll be fine. As far as good food, you can't throw a rock in the city of Boston without breaking the glass windows of two good restaurants. Most of the places around Fenway itself are pubs, and the beer is usually better than the food so you may want to branch out for dinner before the games-- one of the mods usually has great recommendations (Yeszir or Coco I think?). Feel free to hit me up when you get in town.
  13. I have a hard time seeing them making a deal here. Why pay more on Darvish than Cj Wilson and Cliff Lee were both worth? That would just plain moronic.
  14. SFF was "Dutchy" for a little while too, wasn't he?
  15. He's not a vegan, he can eat the cheese:lol: It seems like many of the teams who want him either 1) Will spend so much on him they can't afford other players 2) Play in a pitcher's park 3) Play on a losing AL/NL East team 4) Won't likely make the playoffs The Brewers made it clear last year that they were willing to put the money out there to put a team together that could win. The formula works there, he knows he can produce there, and he is their best player, and probably gets his due respect, and I'm certain he must get the fanfare. Its not like the Red Sox or Yankees are willing to dish out massive money for him, he might not find that monster contract.
  16. He's a vegetarian, remember.
  17. Please stop trolling.
  18. I would like the Red Sox to find a good #3/4 starter for a good deal for either mediocre prospects/ or small money . I would also like there to be a greater sense of peace and harmony between Red Sox fans at Talksox Edit: Oh, and a World Series. I want that too.
  19. He's generally known as a selfless, team-guy. For a million or two, on this ugly team, I think that's worth every penny. Even if he sits on the bench, having a guy who has been in the playoffs in recent years, and helps out team chemistry... priceless.
  20. Buerhle would have cost much more to play in Boston. After the year they had, players cost more. Plus, who on earth wouldn't want to move to Miami? I would have loved to see Buerhle here, but 17 million per year is too much.
