  1. How on earth do the Angels still have money to spend?
  2. Dear User Name, Merry Christmas, Many of us like you here. Do us a favor, and don't get banned for this stuff
  3. Kuroda pitched 63 games the last two years. Why do you consider him a big injury risk?
  4. My first impression was 16, but 17-22 is completely unrealistic. Dice-k won 15 his first year, so I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt.
  5. A 3.05 ERA in the AL usually translates to a 3.5-4.0 ERA. As I said, I'd even be okay with a 4.50-- just a guy to give the offense a chance, and I'm sure he's good enough to do that.
  6. Because at 37, he posted a 3.05 ERA, that's why. Who are the better FA SP options THIS year? The majority of those FAs will end up re-upping or be part of sign-and-trades.
  7. Honestly, I'm not sure how much interest the Yankees will have in the guy. I don't see Kuroda as anything more than a #3/4 starter in the Al East, and that's what the Yankees have a ton of already-- #3/4 starters, plus they do have a ton of young arms in the pipeline that they probably don't want to block. The guy is 37, and he's been in the NL West his entire time here.
  8. In a heartbeat! The guy had a 3.05 ERA last year, and a 3.45 career ERA, and hasn't missed any time in the last two years. I don't care if he turns into a 4.50 ERA starter here, for 25 million, that's a bargain.
  9. Apparently the Red Sox are in trade talks for Gavin Floyd. Now THAT is a name I can get behind. He's not in the NL or AL West, he's pitched 180+ innings the last four years to a low 4's ERA, and costs 7 million next year, and isn't locked up. He'd be a perfect 4th or 5th inning guy, and won't cost 4-5 top prospects.
  10. And Beltran hasn't done that in three years.
  11. As I've said in the past... Beltran was bound to be a consolation prize for the first base sweepstakes. I feel sorry for the Cardinals, that they had to pay that much for a guy who has missed more games than JD Drew.
  12. Apparently some prospect evaluators are rating Bogaerts above Banuelos in their lists
  13. I think you missed my other post. His playing days here are long gone.
  14. Yeah, but I'm pretty sure he still wants to play.
  15. On another note, Jason Varitek was at the Celtics pre-season game last night. Glad he's still in Boston. I wonder if any team will take a flier on him.
  16. Why trade away a player for another player when they will both cost roughly the same, and produce a similar amount of value? Adding ANY prospects to this deal makes it a bad deal.
  17. I like the Red ones. The stupid ones are the really bland gray ones, and the even worse bland throwbacks.
  18. Tim Bogar no longer serving as Red Sox Third Base Coach!!! ... but he was promoted to Bench Coach. Still, this is big news. If only this had happened last year, and one of the games Bogar lost would have been the difference in the WC standings. Valentine talks about Timmy someday being a manager at the major league level. Painful stuff. Still, I'm surprised this hasn't been posted. http://espn.go.com/boston/mlb/story/_/id/7375773/sources-jerry-royster-new-boston-red-sox-3b-coach-tim-bogar-bench
  19. There will be a second wildcard next year.
  20. Considering that Aceves plays the role of a 7th AND 8th inning pitcher, maybe you're right. Having double the innings of an average reliever is kind of unreal.
