  1. I thought his stats suffered because he wasn't being challenged;)
  2. Game of Badly Throne Pitches Beckett Shrugged. Lester Miserables. 162 Days Later The Empire Strikes Back (And the Orioles, and the Rays, and the Blue Jays). Moneyball.
  3. Anyone notice that Crawford has been playing roughly to his career numbers this season?
  4. I saw an article on yahoo sports. Used the phrase "Final nail in the coffin". Haven't heard that one in a while.
  5. Is Buchholz an ace? His start to this season sucked. It is what it is. But look at this last stretch of ten games: 7 IP, 2 ER 8 IP, 2 ER 9 IP, 0 ER 7 IP, 1 ER 6 IP, 5 ER 6.1 IP, 4 ER 8 IP, 1 ER 7 IP, 1 ER 8 IP, 2 ER 7 IP, 0 ER 9 IP, 0 ER 7.48 IP per game, 2.00 ERA. Those are scary good numbers. He had a phenominal 2010, and even in his off year in 2011 he was pretty good for the games he pitched. So, I'm curious. What do people think?
  6. Can Buchh finish this one? What a friggen stud. Gents, this guy is a legit ace.
  7. You always say this... but the discussion on Beckett was 50/50. I've been saying to trade the bum since 2008, and there are plenty who agreed with me.
  8. To answer RSSFL's question, Crawford. He has a very good work ethic, and could actually end up being a very productive player for this team, but in the long run that money is definitely better served used elsewhere. I've wanted Beckett and Salty gone for a while, but the reality is that they're only controlled for two more years. Crawford is controlled for five. Two years from now, the elite prospects of this system will start to emerge-- If Crawford's contract is already off the books, losing Beckett/Lackey/Salty will give the team a significant amount of payroll to work with to support their younger guys. Ideally, they'll use it to spend money on quality players this time around.
  9. I swear guys, I wasn't at the game today But seriously, Beckett is a piece of s***. Did anyone hear him call into WEEI and blame his back problems on trade speculation? What a whiney little bitch.
  10. Greinke has a career 3.80 ERA, the majority of which in a weak AL Central. He's just as much of an ace as Lester/Beckett-- aka, not one. Even if the rumors about his anxiety aren't true, Greinke's CYA makes him a 20-25 million per year contract, considerably more than what he is worth. There are better options. Sanchez will still be on the board and half the price. Perhaps buy low on Marcum if his elbow holds up. There are also a considerable number of pitchers with expensive options in 2013 that may come off their team-- most notably: Jake Peavy at 22 million. Gavin Floyd, 10 million. Haren 16 million. Ervin Santana 13 million Scott Baker 10 million (coming off season ending injury) Shields 9 million Westbrook 9 million. Peavy is an ace. Any of the other guys can be a #2.
  11. Unfortunately, I think that's the attitude that has turned Lester into a mediocre pitcher. He needs to stop blaming the little things, and get back to what works.
  12. s***, Lester needs to calm down.
  13. Hopefully Atchison will be back soon.
  14. Buccholz is pitching like a legitimate ace right now. Morales is kicking ass. Doubront is doing exactly what he should be doing. Cook/Beckett is not a bad #5.
  15. And when he needs it, Lester gets a swing and miss strikeout. Anyone else really hoping that this will be his jumping off point?
