The kid needs development and there is no way he should play on the major league roster at all during any point next season. He hasn't played any level of pro ball in America, and he hasn't played any baseball in a while period. So, he needs to polish his skills in the minors, and get into the flow of American culture and baseball. He needs to be a capable hitter when he reaches the majors, not just a defense wizz with zero offensive threat. Look what happened to Craig Hansen, the Sox rushed him up too quickly, he got rocked, he was never the same and he never lived up to his potential. Maybe or maybe not Iglesias could handle the demoralizing feeling of struggling, who knows. The fact is the Sox need a stop gap solution for at least a year, probably even two so this guy can develop. Signing Scutaro to a long term deal makes no sense.
