  1. Beckett isn't worth the 20 million that Halladay received, nevermind the 23 million CC and Santana have received, he simply isn't as good as them. I think he is worth slightly more than Lackey, but 19-20 million is a lot for Beckett. 5 years 90 is what Beckett should get.
  2. If the Padres wanted him though, I'd be willing to say good bye, easily.
  3. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/base...iday/index.html Bay gonna get 5 years from the Mets it looks like. The Yankees have said they wouldn't sign him long term, so it looks like Bay to the Mets is the only realistic option at this point.
  4. Sox have to be at one or two on Chapman's list of clubs to sign with, aren't we the only ones so far to offer him a contract? That would help out the SP depth in the farm system and this kid could be ready in a couple of years to contribute.
  5. I wouldn't mind seeing Lowell back, as I've said I prefer him over Beltre if somehow the thumb injury prevents the Rameriz Texas trade from going through. Lowell was productive last year, but Francona mis-managed him and played him in too many games. Like previously said, you have to limit his play in the field. He can DH vs. lefties and have Ortiz benched. Kotchman gets more play at 1stbase, which is a good thing b/c he could be defensively better at the position than Youkilis.
  6. I'd rather trade Westmoreland than Ellsbury. Ells has proved he can do it. If it comes down to Kelly or Westmoreland, it rather have Kelly.
  7. Even though I love Mike Lowell, I just want that trade go through and for him to get a chance to play in Texas were a team actually wants his services. Plus we can trade Max Rameriz for Adrian Gonzalez or hold on to him for the future if need be. As for platooning, I thought Lowrie would be the guy, but it makes more sense for him to get consistent AB's and reps in the field in Triple A to prove the health of his wrist. I don't see how the Sox can trade both Ellsbury and Buchholz. We lose our leadoff hitter, CF, and whatever else you want to call him. People will say he isn't a good leadoff hitter, but as we saw from last year he is improving. Where else are we going to get 70 stolen bases a year from? And if we do trade him, Cameron shifts to CF, which means we are back in the LF predicament. I the Sox won't throw money at Bay or Holliday.
  8. I don't understand trading Ellsbury when the kid has just begun to show off his talents. He is only going to get better as a leadoff hitter and his OBP will continue to rise as he learns to take more pitches and work the count better. If we trade Ellsbury we have no viable option to bat leadoff, I guess Pedrioa could do it, but I like him in the two hole. Who plays CF or LF if Ellsbury is traded? Cameron would play center and I don't think the Sox will drop the $ to pay Holliday to play LF
  9. Good, more easy wins for the Sox, although wins never come easy against the Jays in recent years, especially at Sky Dome. But anyway, good to see Hallday in the NL and out of the AL East.
  10. 3 goals allowed in the 3rd period... terrible, one was an empty netter, but yet again Thomas let up a very soft goal from the red line that give Philly the go ahead goal.
  11. Me too, If we trade for Gonzalez, I like this deal more.
  12. thats what I meant to say. Bay isn't coming back haha. well not really, I loved Bay.
  13. Bay is coming back to Boston and Holliday isn't signing with Boston with the Sox signing Cameron today.
  14. So was he signed to be the LF or CF? Dont' know if I like him being signed for two years. There goes any shot of Bay coming back or Holliday being signed. Kinda think the Sox rushed into this signing. If we can add Gonzalez I would like this deal more.
  15. at least Lackey has a hot wife...
  16. I wouldn't mind seeing Lowell back, as I've said I prefer him over Beltre.
  17. http://images.halosheaven.com/images/admin/Angels_Lackey.jpg OH YEAH. GOON
  18. I wouldn't mind keeping Lowell on the team, but at this point its obvious the Sox are going out of there way to do everything they can to just get rid of Lowell. I mean if Lowell does come back, how much moral can he have playing for a team that doesn't want him? It becomes a bit detrimental to the Sox b/c Lowell obviously won't be giving his full effort.
  19. Just looking at his second half last year and playoffs was amazing. Granted he did that in the NL, but still its awesome. Both guys are on the same level, but the M's make out in the deal b/c of that one two combo + the possibility of signing both Figgins and Bay. The Phillies get an ace locked up for a long time, but I imagine fans would have preferred if Hamels could have been traded and Lee could have been locked up
  20. Why shouldn't the Yanks go after Holliday? They have a vacancy in LF and why sign Damon when they could upgrade with Holliday? Bay is going to the Mets or Seattle and I know St. Louis is going balls to the wall to bring back Holliday, but the Yanks could easily up the ante for any offer the Cardinals offer. I don't think the Sox are done dealing yet, but the Yanks can get Holliday and re-affirm their dominance atop the AL.
  21. He could pretty much end up being free for the Rangers I could see the Sox paying more than 9 million of Lowell's contract, which they are already eating in the trade. I don't think there is anyway Lowell returns to the Sox next year, the bridges have been burned at this point. Lowell is going to Texas, whether if its the Sox eating more money or the Sox taking a less player in return.
  22. Again, who is to say Buchholz becomes what Josh Beckett is?
  23. Plus Granderson is a dead pull hitter, so his HR will be inflated by playing Yankee Stadium next year.
  24. Would you rather have Cameron for 2 years or Damon for 1 year. Damon is nowhere near the defender that Cameron is but offensvily he can't be that much better. His OPS is slighly higher but Damon has a higher OBP and BA. What kind of deal is Damon looking for anyway?
