  1. That sucks, USA Womans hockey was supposed to win the gold. And we didn't medal in womens figure skating for the first time since 64'
  2. What kind of stats? go look up his UZR and you will see what I'm talking about
  3. The year for regression was last year. Think about it the Pats went 11-5 in 08 with Cassel at the helm and had many other injuries, still they put up a better mark than the 09 squad. When you trade Seymour and Vrable and lose other key defensive leaders like Harrison and Bruschi, your gonna regress. Another year, another draft, another free agent class, and another of experience gained by guys like Eddelman, Merriweather, Butler, etc. Pats do have the picks to have a good draft, or the chips to trade for a big name. Pats are linked to Julius Peppers, which would address their biggest need, pass rush. Add to that Tom Brady will have a full year under his belt in his comeback and will be much more comfortable heading into the start of next year. With a real offensive coordinator, the offense could be back on track. Losing Welker hurts, but adding more diversity to the offense will help make up for his production. The Jets have a top 3 defense and are highly on the upswing, but I think based off of the run they made in the playoffs people are going to over hype them. Lets not forget that they needed to beat two teams who rested their starters to get into the playoffs. Its gonna be neck and neck next year, but right now you can't put one team a head of the other.
  4. Last year was the first year he had a negative UZR since 04. Its pretty obvious that injuries are what has caused him to lose his defensive value. If he can be healthy his defense will improve and Lowell has always been a productive hitter regardless of his injury situation. Adrian Beltre isn't that much better than Lowell if at all
  5. I really don't want another Green Monster, same for the ST complex, but damn it sure does look nice
  6. I never compared Nixon to Drew, Drew blows Nixon away by miles in terms of talent and production.
  7. Let the good times roll, Patten is back, we all know what happened last we brought in Patten.
  8. Lowell has still got some game left, offensively he still produced last year in limited time and is just as good as if not better a hitter than Beltre. Last year his UZR was something crazy bad like -17, but thats as bad as its ever been with him b/c he was hobbling around on a bad hip last year. His fielding % is still great, he doesn't screw up the balls that are hit too him. Range is horrible, and a joke compared to Beltre's, but with some improved health the range will improve too. Still, there is no way he can stay here, it would just be too akward. The backup role would be idea, but it just can't and won't happen.
  9. Guy is soft, don't let your man crush blind you from that.
  10. AL East Yankees Red Sox (Wild Card) Rays Orioles Blue Jays AL Central Tigers Twins White Sox Royals AL West Mariners Angels Rangers Athletics NL East Phillies Braves Mets Marlins Nationals NL Central Cardinals Cubs Brewers Astros Reds Pirates NL West Dodgers Giants (Wild Card) Rockies D'backs Padres
  11. Most of the players that say that end up being traded away lol. Anyway, we'll see what Drew says when his contract is up in two years and he has to decide whether or not to go chasing the money again. I'd take him back if he took less because he does bring some things to the table such as a great OBP and solid OF defense.
  12. All that was said that was Beltre was coming off an injury that it could prohibit him from playing a full season. People have a right to question Beltre, he has been a bust since joining the Mariners, say what you want about park adjusted numbers, but the guy isn't a great OBP guy. He cashed in on one great year in LA and has been an iffy hitter during his tenure in Seattle. He is a great defender but it is reasonable to wonder if his groin problem will limit his range. Funny how if he said something about Lowell you wouldn't said anything but if its one of your boys you go off.
  13. Great win by team USA in hockey
  14. After watching the conference today, my opinion of Woods hasn't really changed. If he cheated once then you probably forgive the guy but when you do it 10 times thats just ridiculous. To ruin your marriage is a bad thing, to do it when you have children is even worse. Its gonna tarnish my image of Woods, but I'll still support him because he is the reason why I got into the game of golf. He really messed up his reputation through this whole mess. Once he gets back out on the course and resumes golfing and his charity work, and once he completes his "sex rehab" I think the sponsors will start to come back and people will begin to have faith in him. Like he said in his press conference, his wife won't forgive him through words, but through his actions. I wanted to see Woods back on the course ASAP, but it looks like it will be a while before we see him tee it up again. He probably won't play in the Masters. Once he's back I think most of the fans will be supportive, most golf fans are males and he was so popular before this that I think even if he has some nay sayers his fans will still speak louder than them
  15. If he's such a great player, how come he gets based by most of Sox fans?
  16. I would try to work out an extension with him before he hits free agency. Right now he is probably worth John Lackey type money, and for the talent that he is, I'm fine with paying him that type of money. Maybe you throw an a couple player option years on the end of a 4 year deal worth $20 million. If Beckett has a great year this year and hits free agency, he will demand CC Sabbathia type money, or more, at least 20+ mill a year. At that point, I don't think the Sox would give Beckett that type of money or a long term deal.
  17. if looking at fangraphs and war value all day makes you think Drew is worth what he is being paid, well god bless you for being so blind and not knowing it
  18. Vonn took a spill today and didn't medal. I somehow brought myself to watch woman's curling earlier USA vs. Denmark
  19. To me Lester has already broken out and established himself as a great pitcher in the AL. For the Red Sox, I guess by default I'm gonna have pick between Buchholz and Bard. I think with more exposure Bard will have a rough time this year, not for the whole time but for stretches. This will be his first full year in the big leagues. So I'll go with Clay Buchholz. A spot in the rotation is finally his and after a great end to the 2009 season, I expect him to build off of it and strive toward that potential we have all been raving about for the past couple of years.
  20. Nate isn't really what this team needs, what this team needs is a guy who can rebound and do that the dirty work that Leon Powe used to do. I wish the C's made some sort of run at Marcus Camby, that is who we really needed. Anyway, Robinson is basically an upgrade over Eddie House. House is a one dimensional player, and although both are streaky, Nate can drop some serious points when he is on fire. Not really the move the C's needed to make, but its an upgrade, but in the grand scheme of the things it doesn't make the C's that much better
  21. Yeah, he hit on his 2nd run when he had the gold already locked up. Got like a 48.4 score on the run. Lago (USA) got the bronze so its nice to see USA pick up two more medals
  22. Pitching in the NL and in a pitcher friendly park will certainly help things.
  23. Why don't the Sox just let Dice-K pitch the way he did in Japan? I'm talking about like a 130 or 140 pitches a start. He is used to throwing a lot and I believe he was never had any arm problems while pitching in the Japanese leagues. Why change him into a 100 pitch 6 inning pitcher when you can save the pen and let him throw more pitches and go another inning?
  24. It didn't know WAR was the end all in determining player salaries. Drew has his fair share of great qualites, getting on base being one of them, but for $15 million he should be doing a lot more than he has done in Boston. To Drew's defense ever since that contract was signed he has been judged by his large salary and not the talent that he brings-but regardless- he is one of the most overpaid players in baseball
  25. If the starting pitching goes than this team is screwed, we don't have the offense to bail us out. Dice-K is already complaining that he is hurt and ST hasn't even started. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come for him this season. Looks like we may not have to worry about pleasing Wakefield after all. Then he'll get hurt too and we will back to calling up guys like Tazawa and Bowden from Triple A again. Oh wait, we got Boof Bonser!
