  1. The rotation will be fine, its the rest of the team that will be the problem
  2. More interesting: 2nd most errors, 3rd worst team era.
  3. What exactly are we bridging to and how many years will that take? What do we have to look foward to, Casey Kelley? How the hell are we going to fit him into the rotation? Lars Anderson? Dud. Igelsias? Exposito? I means its not like we have any Heywards or Stantons in our farm system. I do realize that every team does get old and dynasty's have to end and be re-built (except for the Yankees who have an unfair advantage that hurts competitive balance by being able buy World Series buy signing whoever they want) but for 150 million, this team should be performing way better and should make the playoffs. Ellsbury and Cameron still need a couple weeks to recover, so its not gonna get any better unless a move is made. Or fire Francona and that useless f*** Farrel. Their time is up if they can't turn this great pitching and defensive team around. 3 worst ERA in baseball, 2nd in baseball in errors committed. Its pathetic. We have great names with great past track records in the pitching department, so the coaching staff is to blame.
  4. what the hell is with all these stupid reaction/evaluation threads?
  5. He started off well last year too, not this well, but he had power last April and May too before really slowing down. Hopefully, not having to catch every day will save his body and his bat and he'll be more consistent throughout the course of the season.
  6. This team got swept by Baltimore, I imagine LAA will blow us out tonight by a record margin
  7. Even though Sturm didn't do much at all in the playoffs so far, it still sucks to lose your first line LW. He has the speed that Thornton doesn't have and he has the potential to score goals. I think its gonna be a bigger loss than most people think. It hurts the penalty kill. I read he has a 1.3 million buyout, so this could be the last of Sturm we see in a B's uniform. Its really rough, I mean he usually puts up 25 goals a year, but we will see.
  8. The team shouldn't be under .500 at this point in the season, not with this payroll and supposed defensive talent and great starting rotation. When they are hovering around .500 in June, will you so, oh its only June we got 4 months to go? Sure the team may turn it around, but they will have to make up a lot ground, that is why improvements, albeit minor ones, have to be made now, so at least by the trade deadline we are in striking distance and only 6 or 7 games back, instead of being at .500 and out of it.
  9. Did I hear a Jim Lonborg reference? I'll never forget Jeff Frye or John Valentin or Tim Naering
  10. and this team is still under performing and 1/6 of the season is in the books. If this was a bad stretch of baseball from June to July everyone would be going crazy (more so than now ). Face it these games count for the regular season as much as any other game, and these games are the ones that could cost us the playoff spot. The Sox can't wait later rather than sooner when making a move. With a payroll of a 150 million, this is embarrassing.
  11. Half of the O's wins have come against the Sox this year
  12. first playoff i've ever been to, what a game. Hope Sturm is ok, place went nuts when Savard came out for his first shift. I've never heard it so loud after he scored the game winning goal
  13. Well if Thomas doesn't waive his NTC, he isn't going anywhere
  14. 1. With the money spent on the big three and Dice-K, they damn well should be top three, but I'll say they they will be top 5 2. He better 3. Define solid defense and acceptable offense 4. No he won't 5. No they won't, not until Francona and Farrell are fired will the Sox start to hold runners on 6. Ortiz will be gone soon, until the Sox get a big bat Lowell sticks around 7. I hope they do, we won't make the playoffs if they don't 8. Beltre is a bust 9. Sure, w/e 10. The pen sucks, Bard is our best reliever other than Papelbon, and Paps hasn't been steady out there in 9 years. Oki is done, Delcarmen sucks, and Ramon Rameriz needs to get his confidence back 11. LOL 12. Agreed, I don't understand why he was brought in when there were stop gap solutions out there 13. True points 14. Drew probably will, but when the Sox need him the most he'll continue to look at strike threes and be unproductive in big situations 15. Yup 16. uh huh, his defense is awful but sure 17. Not if they don't get a big bat, get healthy, cut Ortiz, improve the pen, and get the starting pitching on track
  15. But that may never happen, then what to you do? Grind out the rest the season to 85 wins and a missed playoffs?
  16. Tex always starts slow, he has always had bad Aprils, then he starts tearing it up
  17. Lackey has got this tonight
  18. This is why people should not go by sabermetrics, they change and all of sudden a bad player can become above average.
  19. We got our wish, home ice. Both teams are physical and seem to be goal scoring deprived. But the Bruins have the huge goal tending advantage. We are playing our best hockey come playoff time, but so are the Flyers. If Savard is truly coming back then we have the edge. I'm saying Bruins in 6. The B's were 3-0 last series at home, so this is huge.
  20. One of the biggest first round upsets I've ever seen. I didn't think Montreal would get a game off Washington
  21. f***ing great game today by the whole staff
  22. Bard is f***ing dude, K's the side. Man I hope he keeps this going all year
  23. Its still April, so Lester will suck
