  1. Its pretty ironic the Yankees are the only team the Red Sox can beat.
  2. I reckon the Rangers had a better record while Hamilton was out last year.
  3. Thats just Manny being Manny
  4. I seriously doubt Manny will be elected into the Hall of Fame, nether will Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds when they join the ballot in two years. Voting members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America are relatively united in saying no to players who have been linked to steroids, either through the Mitchell Report, testing or an admission.
  5. Seems like boston22407 jinxed your team
  6. Nope, No makeup date for the contest has been announced. The Yankees and Twins will continue as scheduled for Thursday, a 1:05 p.m. ET start, but a doubleheader will not be played because both teams must travel for day games on Friday. Girardi said that he plans to keep A.J. Burnett in line to start Thursday's matinee.

  8. I don't understand why they didn't let Mo' pitch 1 extra out
  9. It would actually cost them more to skip playing the Yankees due to the loss of sold out stadium ticket sales and TV revenue.
  10. Teixeira is on fire
  11. 4.50 ERA sounds pretty accurate, which is the same ERA he posted in the majors last year over 42 innings. I think he'll have around 150 IP total.
  12. I was just kidding, Pedro in his prime was near un-hittable. I'd certainly take him over Randy during that period. Although from a career standpoint I'd go with the Unit.
  13. Randy > Pedro IMO Randy Johnson, in his prime, was better than Pedro Martinez. Consider this, in Johnson's best span of his career [1994-2002], he pitched 1935 innings with 2620 strikeouts, gathering 156 wins. In Petey's best 9 year span [1996-2004], he went 147-55 with 1841.2 innings and 2210 punchouts.
  14. Micheal Vick should be really intrigued by this game. It's a dog fight...
  15. I'd trade Montero and Banuelos for King Felix in a heartbeat. Yanks will almost certainly need him (or another Ace) should they make it to the WS and face the Phillies for the next couple years. They were even willing to give up Montero last year just to rent Lee for half a season.
  16. During that statement he also said "It's a thin market when you're looking for lefties, and he's one of the better ones out there. But you don't typically go after a guy who's been used like that" I guess Cashman thought his abilities outweighed the risk, especially with the addition of A-Gon and Crawford to Boston. Boone Logan isn't reliable to get the job done ether.
  17. When Coke made his major league debut on 9/1/08 it was against the Tigers, with a scoreless inning and strikeouts of Curtis Granderson and Miguel Cabrera.
  18. When I’m on vacation or on a business trip, I usually leave my automatic weapons at home.
  19. The research department of ESPN has discovered actually Jeter in fact gets strikes called more often on balls inside than the major leaguer average does http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/spring2011/news/story?id=6263858 Watch the video
  20. Yankees weren't always miles ahead of everyone else in salary, when Showalter started managing Yankees in 1992 the team had a payroll of 34,902,292.00
  21. True, under those circumstances its could happen
  22. I don't think theres any chance they'll call up Banuelos this year, a trade before the deadline is much more likely. Cashman even said "He's going to the minor leagues to pitch in the rotation. He's not making this team." Cashman's got a plan for Banuelos and this is absolutely not the time to start mucking about with that plan. If he's really so precocious and he's one of those rare young specimens who can throw 95 miles an hour without shredding his elbow or shoulder, he'll get his big shot next spring or perhaps even the spring after that.
