  1. MLB Rules and U.S. laws are two different things, obviously I meant he didn't break baseball rules. Marijuana isn't a multi-million dollar investigation, you're right, the government spends multi-BILLIONS fighting it every year. HGH may now be banned but still isn't tested for in MLB, hundreds of players to this day could be using it for all we know. I agree he gained a slight unfair advantage which you can call cheating, but he wasn't breaking any baseball rules while doing so at the time.
  2. What am I supposed to think he's a criminal for taking a drug without a script? Its his own body and its not like he's exposing himself to serious health risks taking it. I don't view it much worse than smoking marijuana, which is also "illegal"
  3. It says it right here in this ESPN article Pettitte was not linked to steroids in the report, and said he had never used them. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3156305 It sounds like you're implying there is no distinction between HGH and steroids. It's just plain wrong to put growth hormone in the same category as anabolic steroids. In the sports version of the war on drugs, Bonds was shooting heroin while Hairston was smoking marijuana. What's the difference between steroids and HGH? For starters, we know that a baseball player can beef up on steroids and improve his athletic performance. But most clinical studies suggest that HGH won't help an athlete at all. The other key difference is that while steroids cause a bevy of nasty side effects—testicular shrinkage, an increased risk of stroke—taking HGH doesn't seem to be that bad for you. So far, no one has been able to connect the increase in lean body tissue caused by HGH with enhancement of athletic performance. Unlike steroids, growth hormone hasn't been shown to increase weight-lifting ability; in the lab, it has a greater effect on muscle definition than muscle strength. And it doesn't seem to help much with cardiovascular fitness, either.
  4. I believe half of it is true, I think he never used steroids only HGH, when the drug wasn't even banned in baseball. He wasn't pumping the juice into his arm to increase power and velocity. He was using "legal at the time" means to improve his chances of getting back to work faster.
  5. Andy Pettitte used human growth hormone to recover from an elbow injury in 2002, he said he tried HGH on two occasions, stressing he did it to heal faster and not enhance his performance. He emphasized he never used steroids. HGH wasn't banned by baseball until January 2005 and still isn't tested for in MLB to this day.
  6. The Trade Deadline isn't until June
  7. I never said he would provide the same value, obviously 73% of two pitchers stats combined are greater then one. I meant I'd go with Santana and use the difference in money towards another pitcher, assuming there was an option to obtain a quality pitcher and that the Mets wouldn't be asking for top prospects considering how much salary the Yanks would be paying, Sorry for the confusion, we don't need to discuss this topic any further.
  8. Carl Pavano signed for under 9m, but we all know why the Yankees didn't go for him heh
  9. Yes for nine more million, 9m could easily buy you a 3.2 WAR pitcher. Santana had 199 IP with a 2.98 ERA last year while Lackey had 215 IP with a 4.40 ERA. You make it sound like he's coming back from Tommy John surgery, his surgery was performed over the summer and it was just bone chip removal. He also had his best years in the AL, what you think his ERA is going to skyrocket to over 4-5 if he comes back? You sound like the homer here, not me.
  10. I'd rather pay 25m for Santana if he's throwing well after surgery rather then 30m+ for Beckett and Lackey, he's just turning 32, I think he can still perform at a high level for the remainder of his contract.
  11. The Yanks recent dumpster diving isn't by any means a long term solution, they just need a guy who can get them 5 Wins or so early in the season. Then by June they can make a blockbuster trade or sign Pettitte. Madoff's Ponzi scheme seems to be taking a heavy toll on the Mets. Today Mets' general manager Sandy Alderson conducted an interview today to address various topics, most important of all being recent financial struggles. He said, "Our payroll going into the season will be somewhere between $140 million and $150 million. I think that is significantly higher than we'd like to be on an annual basis" If Johan Santana starts off well this year it seems more and more likely he could land with the Yanks
  12. Having the biggest payroll doesn't help you when there are no elite pitchers in FA to spend it on.
  13. I don't think Pettitte coming back in June would be a bad thing, he's getting up there in years, if anything it might make him fresher for the playoffs not having to endure a full season.
  14. You don't have the peep video of her walking around her hotel room naked?
  15. I imagine Kim would be, she's the most attractive one.
  16. Erin Andrews wouldn't be a bad first round pick, Askmen.com's Top 99 Women 2010 Edition had her ranked 14th http://www.askmen.com/specials/2010_top_99/erin-andrews-14.html
  17. Not being mentally prepared isn't a legit reason? The numbers don't lie, Burnett is a career 3.99 ERA pitcher and never had a 5+ ERA season until last year. I expect him to rebound back to 4.00 or so. Burnett can either be very hittable or virtually unhittable
  18. Burnett going through a divorce and the absence of pitching coach Dave Eiland for a period of the season certainly had a negative impact on his performance.
  19. JETER TAKES BATTING PRACTICE Lol
  20. Rivera is immortal, age doesn't affect him. Its only a matter of time before Jeter becomes a corner OF and A Rod the DH. They'll also land a high quality SP from another team sooner or later.
  21. The last time a Cleveland professional sports team won a championship was in 1964 when the Cleveland Browns won the NFL Championship (pre-Super Bowl era)
