  1. You do realize that Marte isn't very good, right? He's got a career 3.46 ERA (3.66 FIP). Not exactly set up guy material. He's averaged about 40 innings a season the last 3 years, and he's going to be 36. The Yankees will have one legitimate set up option next year if Hughes can repeat on his small sample size last year. They don't have a whole lot of depth in their pen. Mostly young, unproven guys.
  2. That's just because Lester's much better than Burnett. Matsuzaka has better stats than Wang. So to claim that Wang was a more legit #2 starter has no validity.
  3. Wang was not in any way the #2 starter. End of story. To claim otherwise is deceitful.
  4. I have a question for you Jacko. Do you honestly think the Yankees (ages included) going into this year are any better than they were last year? They took some major hits in OPS+ going from Damon to Granderson, Matsui to Johnson and Cabrera to Gardner.
  5. Was there any purpose to this comment, other than to bait on a Red Sox forum? It's more than a little bit sad that you're favorite team won the World Series, and you spend your free time (which you claim you don't have much of) baiting on a Red Sox site. Either you have a major inferiority complex, or you took the 2004 ALCS REALLY hard.
  6. The Red Sox are clearly a better team going into next year. They replaced Varitek with the second best hitting catcher in baseball. They replaced Brad Penny with John Lackey. They replaced Julio Lugo/Nick Green with Marco Scutaro, they'll have a healthy Daisuke Matsuzaka and much improved defense in center, left and at third. If you don't think the Red Sox are a better team, could you make a statistical, objective case otherwise. None of your bull, subjective smear campaigns please.
  7. Vazquez has averaged a FIP of about 4 in the American League and his career ERA is about 0.40 points higher than his FIP. It's no wonder his career ERA in the American League is about 4.50. But I digress. Even if he pitches to an ERA of 4 next year, do you think that makes the Yankees rotation as good as the Red Sox?
  8. The original poster's premise isn't just that Posada's one of the smartest catchers in baseball. But that he's such a smart catcher and great mentor that he will tangibly improve Francisco Cervelli. I agree, it's very abstract.
  9. If only we had Ramiro Pena as our backup IF. Then I'd feel MUCH better about our bench.
  10. Alright Jacko, what Yankees player have I done that with recently that hurt your feelings so much? Why don't you get it over with and just tell us so you can stop hijacking the thread.
  11. I thought for a second you meant he should slow down... now I get it.
  12. Yeah, of all people to pick on our bench I don't know why they picked Bill Hall lol
  13. Sure it could. He failed to break the Mendoza line in the lower minors earlier this year. It was a small sample size, but so is his MLB career.
  14. You think Posada is one of the smartest catchers in baseball? Are you a closet Yankees fan? Jacko, is that you?
