  1. This is usually the time of the game when the strike zone disappears for Yankee hitters at home. It has happened before.
  2. The headline tommorrow should be why Crawford wasn't stealing in the 9th. If he was playing for TB, he sure as hell would be stealing. The fans need an explanation, Globe/Herald.
  3. The fact is --this team looks EXACTLY like the team that pissed its pants last September. They changed manager and GM, but didn't really change the manager and GM. Nothing has changed.
  4. Hey, you aren't their bitch. Ben is their bitch.
  5. You're asking a Red Sox manager to manage? They're only trained to change pitchers every heartbeat after the 6th inning. Especially ones that are goin' good.
  6. The RHP isn't good enough to face the Yankees in Yankee stadium. Stay with the friggin' lefties. They have come a long way since Bard and Papelbon--in such a short time--down. If the trainer keeps Bailey out a few more weeks, maybe Bailey will turn into stone. Tommorrow, if they lose this one, Ben & Co will say good effort. We're on our way... If they win it, Ben will say good effort. We're on our way...
  7. Martin .185 hitter.
  8. Stay with the lefties.
  9. I don't think they're capable of thinking that far ahead.
  10. I don't know if LaRussa wants to come back into baseball again. But they would have to offer him a Vice President's job in complete charge of the team for him to even consider. Something akin to Lucchino, but with some competency in handling team matters. That's probably the one thing Henry could do to save the team next year. Bring in a Vice President of Team affairs --like a Nolan Ryan--and move Lucchino back to administrating Fenway and outside activities. Give the guy complete control to hire FO, manager, coaches, trainers, etc.
  11. Crawford and Ellsbury should have the green light every time they get on base. Every time.
  12. Maybe the FO has told Valentine "we don't do those things on the Red Sox. "
  13. Where's the friggin' manager in all this? The TV pundits have mysteriously stopped talking about the Red Sox, perhaps because of their serious internal problems which have become so obvious lately.
  14. With three lefties going in this series, including Morales, they had a shot at sweeping the Yankees.
  15. He was the problem. He isn't the solution.
  16. I think they'll stand pat--because they have a status quo front office which thinks nothing is wrong, and also because I think the front office still has no money to spend. They won't take salary dumps for prospects. The caveat is maybe LL/Henry feels it's imperative to do something reasonably big for PR. They have been taking huge PR hits the last few days.
  17. The Red Sox have created their own "black cloud."
  18. They should have done that Hanley R. for Crawford deal when there was a window open. Maybe the Marlins turned it down. You don't know, because they don't tell the truth about trade proposals. But look at the media attention Hanley is getting playing for the Dodgers! Sure, it's big market LA Dodgers--maybe that's it--but Hanley would have attracted some attention in Boston. He could be a 30-30 guy this year--not bad even if the Dodgers had to eat his salary. And he's hitting for them. He's playing 3B, but he could play SS in Boston easily--considering what they have right now. It was probably their only chance to get rid of Carl this year. Opportunity missed. Sounds like Cherington. So the Sox are "serious" about JJ? They aren't bold enough to win the bidding on him. Besides, I suspect they are in the same non-spending mode right now they were in pre-season. Watch what they do, folks, not what they say.
  19. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2012/07/pedroia_red_sox.html Pedey says they aren't taking enough pitches in the late innings--not playing as a team. Hell, Pedey, you guys have been doing that for the last couple years. That was noticeable not only to fans but also to announcers covering your games. I heard Rick Sutcliffe say that during a game last year-- he said you weren't playing as a team. I felt the same way. You guys think smallball is golf.
  20. Yeah. Piniella would be good. He's won a few championships, so those '07 guys who think they are running the show couldn't BS him. V is disapponting. He has no fight. Warmed over Tito. Ermey is a pussycat.
