  1. They got RHP Steven Wright for Anderson. AA Akron knuckleballer with 2.70 ERA, 9-6 record. Not bad, though Lars had a hell of a spring training this year, and could bust out like Reddick.
  2. Olney is retweeting stuff from Yankee fans. That's why he can't be trusted. He and Heyman.
  3. They got Megehee from the Pirates for Qualls. Funny how the Red Sea always parts for them when they need a player. Though they thought they had Dempster and didn't get him.
  4. The Breslow deal was all about moving Morales to the starting rotation. Too bad they didn't think of that last Friday. Ben is very slow for an Amherst grad.
  5. Yeah... the Tobin bridge.
  6. Well, Theo chickened out of dealing with the Yankees. The Rangers are desperate for starting pitching. I'm surprised they didn't bite on Beckett. But they probably wanted a rental like Dempster, since their problem right now is injuries.
  7. And Ryan Dempster goes to the Yankee.....er, wait a second, the Rangers! Sold!
  8. That Maureen Mullen of CNNSI must live in the Red Sox locker room. Maybe she has a locker.
  9. Lav will be activated tommorrow. Cafardo tweet. Salty listed in starting lineup as DH, Shoppy catching.
  10. Passan tweets Breslow is a close friend of Bobby V. Breslow went to Yale. He might be pitching to Lav soon. Lav also went to Yale.
  11. Another possible move--Salty to Cleveland for Masterson? or some starting pitcher, They want Lav to catch. via tweet.
  12. Lefty Craig Breslow coming to Red Sox. via Cafardo tweet. Breslow for Albers and Podsednick. Done deal.
  13. Yeah... follow their tweets. One deal is made, and you get 25 tweets about the same deal. All saying the same thing. There sure is a media glut.
  14. Moving Beckett now makes no sense. They can't get anything for him selling low. They just killed their leverage on trading by making a fool of themselves last weekend with the Crawford benching. That told a lot of teams what they were dealing with in Boston. What they can hope to do is unload a catcher to make room for Lav--and bring up Kalish--and Iggy at some point for a look. I'd also like to see them deal Cook, to get Morales back into the rotation. I see they admit it was a mistake not to start Morales instead of Cook in NY last Friday. Glad to see they agree with the rest of the world--a few days late.
  15. Oh boy, the Philly media is calling for some heads to roll right now. Imagine dealing 2/3 of your outfield--just because Utley and Howard were out the first half, Halladay's shoulder got sore, and Lee has been unlucky. How can a team gut itself with all those big pitching contracts committed over the next few years? Hamels must be kicking himself for extending long term, when the only way to go these days seems to be the big TV money in NY and LA.
  16. Good to bring the Yankees in--as leverage against the Dodgers--who figured they could get Dempster for nothing. Hey, the Cubs aren't like the Red Sox--they don't give away players. Right ,Theo? Screw Dempster, don't deal him, and keep him in Cub purgatory for the rest of the season. Back to the Red Sox, the word is they are going to their youth instead of vets. That's a big change in FO view vs pre-season. What they should have done all along--smart people were saying. Now they're stuck with retreads.
  17. The pattern for the Sox for quite a while now has been to stay around.500---they win a few, to get hopes up, then they lose a few. The net result is they stay at .500. I would expect that to continue unless Beckett and Lester start to pitch consistently well, and win games. The other starters are holding their own--though Cook needs to be replaced by Morales. The other thing they need is to have Ellsbury and Crawford get on base and steal steal steal. That means more walks. Crawford can't throw, but he sure as hell can run. Iggy, by the way, has been slumping in AAA. Remember Reddick? He sucked in Pawtucket. Some guys rise to the occasion. Iggy was screwed over pre-season, and it may have affected his motivation. Looked good in spring training.
  18. From the latest tweets, looks like the most likely deal to happen for the Sox involves Shoppy or Salty. They want to free up room to bring up Lav. It's about time. Wish they would deal Aviles, too. They need a look at Iggy--their highest paid SS.
  19. Tell it to the Rangers.
  20. Here's another humorous article by Callahan about a Ben news conference: http://bostonherald.com/sports/columnists/view.bg?articleid=1061149785&position=1 He has Ben excusing himself to bring the game lineup card down to Bobby V. Passan said in a WEEI interview V's managership will end "in a mushroom cloud."
