He has been much better since April. He had a 4.17 ERA (1.42 WHIP) in May, a 3.18 ERA (1.34 WHIP) in June and a 4.09 ERA (1.27 WHIP) in July before this start. Plus his BABIP is .331, so he's been a bit unlucky.
But I still wouldn't mind seeing Buchholz get a chance. We've got plenty of pitching depth beyond him in Bowden, Masterson and Matsuzaka. Maybe we could get a decent bench player for Penny, a lot of teams need pitching.
