  1. And one more thing. This is one f***ing boring hot stove season. I'm guessing that teams are trying to spend less this winter so no one is jumping into the pond just yet. It's whacky to think that no major deals have been made yet.
  2. Yup. The Statue has said that he has to get payroll down to no more than $90. mil or their business model does not work. That is serious stuff and a very strong motivator. Something has got to give soon or the Marlins will likely look like dopes. They must get out from under the Stanton contract or they are pretty much f***ed.
  3. Yup. Opinion based on hearsay and even less. I know nothing about the new coaches. I have no idea what they will do to better the quality of ball being played.
  4. Yup. I wonder how Pulholtz career would have gone had he been in a media mecca for most of his productive career?
  5. Nonsense. He can win in other organizations and St.Louis will never afford him the kind of media exposure that will make him a household name and line his pockets. LA, NYC, Boston, and probably Chicago can do everything for the kid.
  6. I share your skepticism although Swi stated this week that his ankle/foot feels better than it has felt for 2 years. Not sure what that indicates. I don't share others opinions of his hitting. I saw him make adjustments in 2015 and he already has a better hit tool than many Sox "prsopects".
  7. It is possible to have both.
  8. 15-2 Baby. 15 wins in a row. Of course the National media poo-poos the 15 game streak. Who have the Celts beaten, anyway? The only teams that are seen as stiff comp that they have not beaten are Houston and Cleveland. You could ad a healthy San Antonio, I suppose. If they stay healthy and learn to play their offense as well as the rest of their game, they are going to be really tough to play in the spring.
  9. I played in pick-up games with Terry Driscoll at BC. I also played with another buck, Greg Lee.
  10. Interesting how Santana is worth so much more than Encarnacion.
  11. Big Big O fan here. I liked Wally Jones and Bobby Dandridge too. Lucious Allen another John Wooden man.
  12. Ditto what a700 said. The idea is to enhance the roster in the off-season. Not just to play musical lockers with inconsequential players. Either is a dud that has been paid way to much money. His only value with the Sox is that he is a training buddy of Pedroia. Woopie. Granderson is a has been at best. Brentz deserves a chance and his upside could be a very good story. There is no downside to having him "fail" in MLB. Just move onto the next guy. It's 4th OF, after all. 3/39 for Victorino was a gamble that paid short term and for me it was a good deal. He was huge in winning a world championship. So the Sox wasted 26 mil. Big deal compared to the money they have flushed down the shitter since then.
  13. Except that Stanton has expressed a desire to play on a coast. And really, why would Stanton okay a deal to one of the most depressing metropolitan areas in our country when he could be in a hot bed of activity like LA or NYC? I would be very surprised if Stanton agrees to play in St Louis. He hold all of the cards. His opportunity to grow his brand will not be nourished by being in that dreadful city.
  14. They have talent that is pretty deep. This team will get better, too.
  15. Kluber deserved to win.
  16. And fluffers in the clubhouse.
  17. I say stay away from Martinez if he goes for 5/150m -7/210. He is just not worth that much and it will be more of the same time of wasted deal that has hurt this team recently.
  18. I'm hoping that he has a good spring and that he puts some balls in the seats early. It would be great to see this guy contribute ( especially cheaply ) as opposed to paying FA prices for another platoon hitting 4th OFer.
  19. I like this idea for several reasons mostly doing with fairness and money spent bang for the buck. Castillo is f***ed unless some team comes along and wants hims so badly that they will eat all of his contract. Too bad. It did not work out. He was given plenty of chances. The irony is not that he has little chance to get to MLB he appears to be as ready as ever for the challenge.
  20. Amen to that.
  21. That's pretty cool, actually.
  22. I'll say it again, Moon is absolutely correct in his opinion ( or at least my opinion is the same ) that Hosmer is the wrong guy for this team. While I would love to have Abreu I doubt that we can send the WS the chips they need in prospect form so we are left with the mid-tier dregs. I am leaning toward Morrison but would prefer a rightly power bat. Santana sounds nice with switch hitting and high obp but I just don't think the upgrade will be worth the cost. Better than it would likely be with Hosmer just still not enough. If we end up with Moreland I will laugh.
  23. I few ugly losses and under-performance at the plate and this bunch will be all over the new coaches in 2018. Or, if the Sox come out of the gate scorching hot people here will be saying what a difference good coaching can make. Everybody is full of s***.
  24. I am curious as to how Stanton has better WAR than Manny in only 25 additional AB. Is Stanton some miracle worker defensively? I s he a demon on the base paths. Or is WAR a flawed stat?
  25. 12 and 2 baby!!1!1! Toronto is a real team and they just lost to the Celts who had no Irving. Pretty cool. It was a good game that could have one either way. Yet the Celts battled to the end.
