  1. I really think Bard would best be utilized as set up or mid relief. I agree with User on this subject. I have absolutely NO IDEA if Bard can be a productive starter and I will probably never have the ability to make this determination no many how many times I see him throw. Whether on TV or live.
  2. EXACTLY!!!111!!!!111111!!!
  3. George, you ARE smarter than this. Please?
  4. How long have you been a fan? Since 1966. How did you become a Red Sox fan? Moved from Lousiville Ky, to Newton, Ma in the fall of 1966 when my Dad took a job teaching Biology at Boston College. I had never even touched a baseball until that moment. Never had seen a game. My Dad was a big time scientist that chose to teach at BC only because he had a chance (finally) to live in a NHL city (He was an accomplished hockey player in Europe and here in HS and College). Anyway, my family landed in a working class section of a rich Boston suburb and I became immersed in baseball immediately. I've loved the game ever since. Who is your favorite current Red Sox player? Pedroia. Then Ellsbury. Who is your favorite all-time Red Sox player? Yaz, followed closely by George Scott. Who is your least favorite Red Sox player ever? Carl Everett. Then maybe Wil Coredeiro. What state/country do you live in (to see how spread out the fan base is here)? Massachusetts, USA. There is a map on Talksox that shows our geographical distribution. What is your favorite memory being a Red Sox fan? A pigeon s***ing on my head while sitting in the left field grandstands watching a double header against the Brewers comes to mind but certainly my friendship with the entire Baltimore bullpen one year is up there too! But watching Joe Rudi entertain the crowd during a rain delay of the Sonny Siebert - Vida Blue showdown was THE BEST sport related memory I recall. Just wonderful s***. When was the first time you ever went to Fenway Park? 1967 Who is your least favorite Yankee player of all-time? Mickey Rivers, of course! Any other comments that you would like to add? I don't hate the Yankees! I just think that some of the New York sports teams fans are total pukes and that New York City is a sub-human environment.
  5. Simply, Lol.
  6. Thanks you two. This is the best historical perspective a fan can enjoy. The memories of another die-hard fan.
  7. Of course now the rumor mills have Tebow being traded to the Pats.
  8. In most circumstances a Norv Turner team makes the play offs and chokes in the first round. He plows goats big time.
  9. Research has shown that one hundred percent of the worlds population will die. Never saw him play.
  10. I think Bard belongs in the pen because he is very good at set-up and the Sox pen needs arms. And yes, this is a small sample size. I do not believe this subject is worthy of it's own thread. Especially since there is a similar thread already. Interesting.
  11. Thank you Gentlemen.
  12. I have always enjoyed watching Ortiz run the bases. He is not exactly a gazelle but he runs with purpose and always seems to pop-up with a self deprecating smile after a slide. I too am encouraged that the Sox appear to be more aggressive on the base paths. I can't remember when a Sox team last took this approach. I was (and still am) a huge Francona fan. But that does not mean that I can not appreciate BV's "new" approach. This is just fun to see.:thumbsup:
  13. Hahahahahahahahaha!! I just wasted about an hour reading this crap. I have asked myself the same question. Now my eyes and head hurt. Thank God for Percocets! Give up George. You are wrong. Or at the least, insufficiently correct.
  14. George, we have had this conversation before. I have not been to Fenway (to see a game) since September, 2010. However, I remember thinking about you while at that game. I was a porker myself then, weighing in at about 325. I sat in one those bar stool chairs outside in The Bank Boston Pavilion. They are identical to the stools atop the Monster. You can sit in those. Although your ass and thighs will become numb after a while. Also, there are areas where people in wheelchairs can "sit" or park. In those areas they provide folding metal chairs. When my ass and my bad right knee became painful I asked an usher if I could sit in one of the folding chairs even though I was not handicapped. So you see, you can sit somewhere comfortably at Fenway. Your obstacle would appear to be more economic than ergonomic. Go for it.
  15. :lol::lol: I believe that I know exactly why!!!!!
  16. Point very well taken my friend. And please know that your composition and posting skills are just fine. Be thankful that you know how to spell otherwise you'd likely have VA up your ass all the time!:lol:
  17. I don't consider myself a whiner. I know quite a bit about business, branding, marketing, client services, and facility design and construction. SCM is absolutely correct. I won't get into a whole essay on this subject. I will say that far greater than 1% of the seats are obstructed. Also, the real reason the stadium will not be replaced anytime soon are economic and political. One needs to actually live here to know these things it would seem. Just the same I am proud that that dump is the home venue of the team that I have been loyally following for 47 years.
  18. Dojji, I admire your creative and thought provoking approach here. But as so many have pointed out, the flaw in your plan is that Lin does not make-up for his offensive deficiencies with his D. And your supposition is supported by some else' s "projection". I liked watching him play in Portland. I root for young players that are exciting to watch. But this guy does not appear to be MLB ready. No matter how glovey he seems to you. It seems that every year you get a boner for one of these guys. You struck gold with Danial Nava and his two week cup of coffee. Mark Teahan? Oh joy!!! It's all good though. Just fun stuff.
  19. I certainly can agree with this part of your idea Dojji.
  20. f*** UZR. I will remain defiant about this metric until someone demonstrates that it is anything more than a subjective based measure of defensive worth. No offense intended Bellhorn.
