  1. This is what I think is silly about all of this. No one has said he got a competitive advantage from cheating. No one has said that he was wrong for cheating. People are just complaining that he cheated in a way that was too obvious. LOL!!! The entire situation is ridiculous. Farrel "had to do something because it was so obvious". Wut
  2. So two starts? Okay. lol. The whole matter is a joke.
  3. Is it possible to be dumber than dumb? I'm with you Youk. This was a good move. Wilson was needed in the pen because the relief staff was used extensively in the past few days. In particular, Capuano and Badenhop had thrown about 70 pitches. Oh, Victorino was "there" last night. He was dressed and in the dogout. He even jogged onto the field at the end of the game. Of course I may be totally wrong here. The Sox may have brought Wilson up for one night to take advantage of his enormous star qualities so the NESN ratings could be boosted. Something has to be done to fight that terrible media dollar advantage the Yankees have!
  4. He walked again last night! The dawn of a new era?
  5. Irrational drivel.
  6. Yes. As MVP said. He had a walk over the weekend, I believe.
  7. From what I've seen of Carp his defense is worse than Nava's. I think Nava plays a serviceable defense in left field and is not fast enough to play open expanses like right field in Fenway. The Sox put him there and in center out of apparent need. At first base, he was inexperienced and a work in progress. Carp is with the team because he has good power off the bench. Nava will likely be back after he gets it together at the plate.
  8. I like posts from MVP. Of course I usually gravitate towards people with well developed minds.
  9. Lol. Yes.
  10. Just learn to let it roll off you. Or better yet, find amusement in their ignorance! I took some time off from this board because I was busy with other stuff and frankly I did not care for the rampant immaturity on Talksox. But now I just accept the "intellectual diversity" of the board. I look forward to seeing and hearing what intelligent, informed, and insightful people say and just roll my eyes and laugh at the stupidity of some. I urge you to stay present in Talksox every day. Unless you are totally immersed in euro-pussy, I expect you to comment while you are traveling! That is all!
  11. Ditto. An infusion of intelligence and baseball knowledge would do this board some good.
  12. I'm guessing that this game gets rained out. It's been raining here since about 10:30 last night.
  13. Workman remains in Pawtucket because the Yankees have an unfair advantage with the giant revenues from their TV contracts!
  14. Of course the feeble minded among this board will likely attribute Pineda's success to cheating. He's just pitching well and many Sox hitters have yet to "hit" their stride. Lackey is who he is.
  15. Lol. We will see Workman soon enough I'm afraid! And I look forward to seeing him pitch. I'm sick of the inconsistent performances of Buchholtz and Doubrant.
  16. If Cole is the pitcher then he was the one who ignited the confrontation. I don't know Gomez. But I have no problem with how he watched the batted ball or how he ran the bases. Baseball is entertainment. The players have emotions. Unless a player deliberately embarrasses another player or the game I have no problem with what they do.
  17. Pineda has looked good all spring. I like Lackey a lot. I hope he can get ahead of the hitters and keep men off base.
  18. I never saw this thread until now. Of course the Sox retire #34. Ortiz is one of the most productive Sox hitters in history and a huge part of Red Sox culture. I do wish that he would learn to keep his moth shut at times. I am sick of hearing him bitch about respect and his contract situation. At least that topic is dead for now.
  19. Lol You probably know what I mean Ted. When the Sox played the Cards in the 1967 series I saw Brock for the first time. He was unstoppable. That series was an eye opener for me. I was new to the game and had never seen speed in the AL like that. Of course, I had never seen a pitcher as good As Gibson either! That Cards team was loaded. I would love to see more speed in MLB. Of course having followed the Sox for so long it's probably natural for me to like something that the Sox have rarely had.
  20. Thanks for the link. The kid is a jaw dropper. Really. It is like seeing Lou Brock run for the first time.
  21. I've been watching baseball for about 48 years and have seen a lot of cool things. Last year I saw a left fielder make an unassisted double play ( Johny Gomes ). I'm watching the Reds at Pittsburgh now. Billy Hamilton was hit by the first pitch of the game. A subsequent batter hit a soft grounder toward the left side that the pitcher Lariano fielded and threw to first for the out. Meanwhile, Hamilton got a good jump and ran all of the way to third base where he was called safe on a good throw from first. Later Hamilton scored ( missed the play but believe it was a sacrifice of some kind ). I have no idea if this kid has any other skills. However, his speed is remarkable. A true game changer.
  22. Two stinkers in a row thrown by Sox starters. Hopefully the pen can hold and the Sox offense can come back. This is embarrassing.
