  1. It did look really awful. I'm hoping for the best.
  2. Slash last night Guerin Austin of NESN said that Benintendi had been fitted with his new knee brace and was on target to play in games this coming weekend. The ovation for Ortiz was pretty f***ing cool. Yeah, there were a s*** ton of Sox fans in Petco, but the entire stadium stood and cheered.
  3. Lol. a700 is always making new friends!!!
  4. And as a consequence usually saw many pitches.
  5. Why are you comparing those two guys? Will one be cut or moved in favor of the other? I like what I see from Hernandez. But anyone suggesting getting rid of Holt should stop and think about how valuable his positional versatility is to this team. Holt is a very good tool for Farrell to plug in here and there. He is not a power hitter. Big deal.
  6. Hello. Just to fill the new people in ( mostly BDC guys ), talksox has gone over "Clutch" several times while I have been a member. For the most part, members are in agreement that "Clucth" does not exist. That good hitters get more hits in "Clutch" situations than lesser hitters. What Moon say is what is generally believed here. I bring this up with hopes that we won't have yet another boring and protracted discussion on "Clutch". Rico Petrocelli was clutch, Davis Ortiz is clutch, etc. But only to the extent that they are more productive hitters in general. Carry on.
  7. I am hoping for plenty of Don Orsillo. In fact, if there will be the a ceremony to honor Ortiz I think it would be way cool for Don to be the on-field MC.
  8. Interesting points. But who closes while Kimbrel is doing mop-up?
  9. And it could be that he is another highly athletic player from Cuba that is just not ready for the responsibilities of MLB ball. Although he has seemed to adapt to the materialistic aspect of stardom now that he drives a Lamborghini. I'm not surprised that his game is unpolished. It's not like he has had the opportunities to play and to be coached as with Benintendi. They are about the same age yet one is clearly a much more finished product with about the same pro service time. I' am curious to see how Mocada hits. He has had about one full season of at bats in the pros. During an interview for ESPN's 30/30 on Michael Jordan's attempt at pro baseball, Terry Francona said that if age and the NBA were not considerations, Jordan would have become a Major League player. As Francona saw it, it takes a player a solid 1200 AB in pro ball to become ready for MLB. I trust Francona. He knows more about baseball and player development than anyone here. Benintendi saw much more quality pitching in college. I also assume that he is just a more advanced talent than Moncada. If Moncada rakes near term my points are moot. If he is less than stellar, it could be because he needs more time in the minors.
  10. I don't read walls of text. I tried but got only as far as Benintendi being put in harms way and decided to clip my toe nails instead. Did I miss anything?
  11. Brock Holt makes most plays at most positions. He rarely makes big f***-ups. f*** UZR and UZR 150. He is not a Gold glove anywhere but he is pretty serviceable.
  12. I'll break from what everyone else thinks and say that Kimbrel is not as good as his stats would indicate. One of the best for 3-4 years but he is mostly a gamble with Boston. He throw way too many pitches and creates his own problems.
  13. ********. They spent $63. mil on a kid with very little experience at high level ball. After the can't miss hype of Castillo my comment is justified. Besides, one injury and poof, he's gone. I say pay for proven talent.
  14. Or another waste of money.
  15. I have a feeling E-Rod goes 4-1/3 - 5 innings today.
  16. God bless Kevin Cash.
  17. Looks like it. I think that Beane just wanted Donaldson gone after the public spat. A good manager would have handled that situation very differently. Of course the As don't have the money to keep guys like Donaldson for very long so maybe his exit was inevitable. It still pisses me off that for whatever reason Beane chose Toronto as a trading partner and not the Sox.
  18. Maybe. He seems to be throwing more strikes and staying in or near the strike zone this year. He is pitching up more too. Dingers will happen when you do that. As long as his command is good, he should prevail.
  19. Me too. I still like Eric Wedge. Especially with a cast of young players.

  22. Well we can all be thankful that Papi did not get hurt playing 1st base!!!!!
  23. Yup. That trade seemed pretty good at the time. It could have been made much better if the Sox had stepped up and signed miller back. It would have been a big contract for a reliever but with regard to what we see now it is not so bad. Plus we could have had one of the most consistently dominant relievers back on our staff.
