  1. I'd rather DD concentrate on "rounding out" the pen by seeking guys like Badenhop. A good pen can be built without spending so much money. I mean a Badenhop type, not the man himself.
  2. I am hoping that Dombrowski makes some moves sometime very soon. We need new topics to argue and eventually beat to death. Then resurrect the topic 4, 6,8, and 12 months later to beat to death again.
  3. When you really think about it, it's not any bigger of an ask than a new GM taking over where a team is not in good shape. A lot of work to put people in play to change things. All types of moves to upgrade talent and to win more than previously. The Fact that Theo had a storied past was something that changed the level of hype and the story line. The actual work done was nothing extraordinary.
  4. I will agree to the point that Theo's emphasis on building value in the Minors would help. But it's hard to imagine that he could go all the way without big ticket FA signings. After all, he has not done that yet.
  5. So you think that Boy Wonder could work his magic without the big payroll and revenue. Boy, he would be the best then.
  6. Why do we want a 1 year or maybe 2 year "solution" at DH? I can see Beltran for two years, but what happens after that? I want to see the Sox maintain how the DH has been used in Boston since 2003. I don't like the idea of counting on DH by committee or only using our current roster to cover the position. I want to replace as much as possible lost production with one player. I don't like the idea of hoping for increased WAR at other positions to replace Ortiz. That won't happen. To believe so is like believing that the gang of 5 were going to be "5 Aces".
  7. Yup. That is what I was getting at.
  8. Does the CBA provide for that ability?
  9. Yup. I agree with all of this.
  10. Right. And he did it with us watching in real time. Which is my point. It was important to us and we witnessed it. I doubt many people here were witness to the exploits of the old time GMs. It's a really good story.
  11. Good post. Still, with his recent history of batting struggles, I think that we all would like to see more consistency from Bradley.
  12. Welcome Oh Foy.
  13. Holy s*** what a post Moon.
  14. I have no idea what your point is. No one can pin point exactly how much a player will develop. Swihart is younger. So? Vazquez is older. So? My point WAS ( since neither of you seem to get it ) No one knows how much more Swihart will develop his defense. Now it is true that Vazquez can continue to get better. To say that Swihart will never be as good as a defender as Vazquez is just disingenuous. And I am trying not to insult anyone.
  15. I did not apologize. You said Swihart would never be as good a defender as Vasquez. You have not explained how you know this. It's cool though.
  16. I certainly do not disagree with any of this either.
  17. And we are not bashing him by saying this Moon. It's just the way it is. I am hopeful that he is in REAL ( not really ) good shape and that he is able to contribute full time for the full season. I am also doubtful.
  18. Makes sense to me. I hope he sticks with it and does not trade away any foundation players.
  19. Hannigan is an unfortunate casualty of this situation. I hate to see him go. But I certainly agree with you about Swihart.
  20. You have known about him for years and years? Wow. I never knew of him until Ben grabbed him off the scrap heap from Washington. And aside from his hot streak, he is exactly what Kimmi said he would be.
  21. I don't know that Havlicek could stay with Jordan. He could run up and down the court and out shoot him, but Jordan had much quicker feet and was a more effective athlete. It would be an interesting mach-up, though. Put Don Cheney on Jordan and that would be very interesting. By the way. I met Havlicek once and he is a major dick. Rude as f***.
  22. Yeah I would be hesitant to move one of these guys.
  23. I have been scared about that pair as depth for 2 years. Is Workman a dead issue now? Has his window closed?
