He was the greatest scorer and most spectacular basketball athlete. But I'd take a couple guys over him if I was starting a team. Although Bird averaged 6 points less, he had a lot more rebounds and averaged more assists, even though he was a forward. I also would take Magic over Jordan.

As much as I respect Jeter and what he means to the Yankees, and the love he gets from Yank fans, there is not one year where he was the true MVP of the league. Even in his best years, someone else was better. Even 2006. The only reason it was so close that year was because Morneau split votes with Mauer and Santana.

Drew started hitting after Tito moved him to 8th. And if Arod goes 0-for-everything in the playoffs again, I could see Girardi moving him down, just like Torre did.

Look, this is all just opinion. Just because Dipre and some others think he's a s***** strategist/tactician doesn't make it so. And it doesn't matter how stupid they think those who disagree with them are. They're not changing any minds by calling people names. I happen to think they're wrong, but I respect their right to their flawed opinions. -g-

It's all relative. You can't intelligently comment on a manager's strategic ability without seeing a lot of his games. People who see LaRussa, Torre and others every day criticize them too. Tito is a better strategist than Grady Little, Jimy Williams, Kevin Kennedy, Butch Hobson, Joe Morgan, John McNamara, Ralph Houk, Don Zimmer, Darrel Johnson and Eddie Kasco. Therefore, overall, I think he's a pretty good strategist.

I thought it was low, but borderline. Obviously, it needed to be better in that situation. Fuentes failed.

Fuentes put five guys on after two were out. The ump may have missed that pitch, but it was obviously not a good enough pitch to be a definite strike - which is what was required. Pitcher's fault.
