  1. If you agree he was one of the two most valuable players on the Sox this past season, then I don't see what your argument is. The guy can play, and is a better risk for us than Holliday in my opinion.
  2. All I know is what I see. Bay produced offensively, made all the plays he was supposed to make, and was one of the two most valuable players on this team. Conversely, Holliday sucked in the AL and blew the playoffs for his team by hot-dogging it in the field.
  3. Rumor has it the Rangers want Scutaro for 3B. If that means Michael Young is available, wouldn't that be a good option at SS until Lowell is gone?
  4. Holliday lost the playoffs for the Cards by trying to style an easy fly ball hit right to him. Give me the guy who makes the plays he's supposed to make, gets on base at a high rate, and is a reliable 35+/100+ bat.
  5. According to an analysis on fangraphs, he's a slightly below average fielder at shortstop, but a low risk to significantly regress offensively. Also, he has plantar fasciitis.
  6. Bay makes the plays he's supposed to make. Manny doesn't. Bay's UZR is negatively overweighted by his limited range. His other three UZR components are either plus or neutral. To say he's a bad fielder is absurd. He's an average left fielder.
  7. A one year wonder at 34. Best not to get a hard on for that.
  8. Buchholz. Not even close.
  9. The guy who voted for Cabrera ought to lose his vote.
  10. His defense is not 'horrible'. That's just propaganda.
  11. His UZR is negatively overweighted by his lack of range. His other UZR components are average or better. Since LF range in Fenway is largely immaterial, I'd say his overall defense should not be a major factor in his value to the Red Sox.
  12. He makes the plays he supposed to make.
  13. Bay's defense is being used as a negotiating tool. Sox FO did a good job with the propaganda.
  14. Let's not forget my man Tilly.
  15. Jeter has no range. But he handles what he gets to well. His errors are down this year because of Tex. But let's face it, there's no way in hell they were giving it to Izturis or Aybar.
  16. I want some of what Theo is smoking.
  17. Are there dealers right out in the open? Stores? Or just "coffee shops" and illegal dealers?
  18. He's a pretty good player. But he's not better than Albert Pujols. Fangraphs "value" rating is dumb.
  19. Ben Zobrist is the highest value player, according to fangraphs. Just a tick more than Albert Pujols. So don't be a Theo, and use that stat as a justification for anything. The Yanks were matching anything the Sox proposed on Tex. And Tex and his wife decided early on (as they are quoted as saying) that they wanted NY.
  20. The best thing about getting Hermida is that Tito won't be able to put Hunter Jones in to blow a game in the 6th inning.
  21. Is it really legal in Holland? Or are there strings attached?
  22. He's a below average player and bats left (which they don't need). But they didn't give up much for some valid outfield insurance.
