  1. Congratulations.
  2. Bay is better defensively than Manny, Greenwell, and Rice - butchers all.
  3. No. Not even in the same league. Honestly, Ellsbury might be a borderline all star, while Melky is a 4th outfielder.
  4. Can he play in the AL?
  5. Not nearly enough.
  6. Trying to hit through the shift is killing him. We don't need a .220 hitting DH who only occasionally crushes a ball. If he doesn't use the whole field next year, he'll find himself on the bench.
  7. Think about it. Bay is the best defensive left fielder the Sox have had since Yaz.
  8. Just found the section on baseball-reference with those records. Lots of Yanks and Braves on the longevity stats lists.
  9. Pettitte currently has 9 post season losses. I wonder what pitcher holds that record.
  10. Pettitte is 4-4 in 12 world series starts, with a 4.00 ERA.
  11. Just hope it doesn't come down to Lidge again.
  12. How anybody can put a hanger-on like Melky in the same category with a weapon like Ellsbury is beyond me.
  13. I'm with you, Christian.
  14. In what, checkers? This is like... Rhet=Pujols
  15. Good enough to make the playoffs doesn't mean good enough to win them.
  16. No doubt. Home field was huge for them. But still, they led the league in ROAD home runs too.
  17. Why not Theo? Maybe then he could convince Tito to stop batting the "third best outfielder in baseball" 8th.
  18. The Yankee core had a trend reversal this year... Jeter (age 35): 2008 OPS+ 102, 2009 OPS+ 129 Matsui (age 35): 2008 OPS+ 108, 2009 OPS+ 128 Damon (age 35): 2008 OPS+ 118, 2009 OPS+ 123 Posada (age 37): 2008 OPS+ 103, 2009 OPS+ 130 Cabrera (age 24): 2008 OPS+ 68, 2009 OPS+ 97 Cano (age 26): 2008 OPS+ 86, 2009 OPS+ 126 Swisher (age 28): 2008 OPS+ 92, 2009 OPS+ 126 Arod and Tex had their usual productive years, but the other seven hitters all trended up significantly. Can they do that again next year?
  19. Only one obviously blown call last night. They're getting better.
  20. 3 yrs for Bay is low balling. The guy just turned 31.
