  1. Beltre is one of the worst offensive players in the league. Why would anyone pay him more than a late inning defensive substitute would make? Is Boras that hypnotic?
  2. Theo's interest in Beltre is surely a joke, right? He's just messing with Boras's head, right? Surely Theo wouldn't give a guy with a .317 OBP over the past five years a four year contract, right?
  3. It's not even close. One guy is trending up while the other is trending down.
  4. Granderson's .319 OBP as a leadoff hitter will look good in a Yank uniform.
  5. He bats 8th. Enough said.
  6. Oh c'mon, everyone knows that's rubbish. The object of the game is NOT TO MAKE OUTS. Scutaro does that almost as well as Drew at less than half the price. Theo the genius has gotten us more bang for the buck with this signing.
  7. Theo seems to be getting more bang for the buck these days... Scutaro .379 OBP for $5 million vs. Drew .392 OBP for $14 million
  8. You are fee to believe that. I know what I have seen from him.
  9. Call me wrong. That's your opinion. But I have no reason to lie about it. That's the kind of accusation that ends discussions.
  10. Can you post the links for the vid of each catch? Thks.
  11. I agree. Never watching Holliday catch a routine fly ball - while promoting him here as a good fielder - is weak. Please gentlemen, watch the games before commenting. You'll be amazed at what you're missing.
  12. Well, I checked and there just isn't much on Holliday on youtube, except for that error. If you don't believe he hot dogs catches, you'll just have to watch him catch routine fly balls next year. Because it's not something you could miss if you're watching the game. It's a quck glove flick to a basket catch. He did it a few times in that Dodger series.
  13. Had Holliday done that, instead of making a styling error, nobody would hold it against him. Certainly not me.
  14. If you get a vid of that series, he basket caught several routine fly balls.
  15. Except it was an error. And Bay doesn't make errors.
  16. As I read some of the responses here, I wonder how many posters actually watched Holliday in the field this year. He has become baseball's basket catch man. On the play he botched to cost his team a playoff game, he couldn't decide whether to just reach up and grab it or basket catch it Willie Mays style.
  17. Dipre, I'm going to deviate from my usual discussion of sports and players for just a second here. If you consider me a troll, you don't know what the word means. Now back to our regularly schedule program...
  18. Despite your troll-like response, I'll offer that all current players who use basket catches are hot dogs.
  19. That's a legitimate criticsm of Holliday too.
  20. This post tells ME you don't watch Holliday in the field.
  21. LOL. Ah.. his flip-basket-wanabe catch, is his style calling card in left.
  22. Holliday made a mental gaff, not a physical mistake. He hot dogs routine plays, for some reason. It's just what he does. Bay had no such plays like that this year. Zero. He caught every single ball hit to him this year. I'd rather have a guy who you claim "looks lost" than a guy who blows games by hot-dogging.
  23. It's all about wins, Dipre. Like any stat, especially on defense, use UZR as a guide, not a Bible.
  24. What's the best way to measure Holliday's defense? How many hot dog plays have blown playoff games?
