  1. And I imagine with the amount of money coming back to Philly we won't need to include much in the way of prospects, so that fits in our "compete now without jeopardizing our future" theme. And we can really use another top tier starter besides Lester/Buchholz and we can use someone like Doubront not starting once every 5 games. Also I'll give him credit he pitched reasonably well this last time out.
  2. Yeah so about that fantasy trade for Mike Trout....
  3. Loria definitely shouldn't be allowed to be an owner anymore. Him and the dude for Houston.
  4. It was also a 3 ball count I believe.
  5. Since we just blew our chance at the game I'd say we leave Doubront in for the 7th.
  6. We're heating up..... (NBA Jam rules)
  7. Ellsbury can learn something from that.
  8. I think I've started 1 in 4+ years.
  9. This is our do or die inning imo.
  10. ...which would help if Doubront could get batters out and find the strike zone.
  11. The other benefit is that if we do lose the game (hopefully not being no hit) we only have to pitch 8 innings. And Doubront is at a low enough pitch count to at least go 7. That should really help our bullpen going forward.
  12. For what it's worth, in Quintana's only other start vs. Boston he went 8 scoreless. He only gave up 5 hits and no walks to 2 K's. So he's at 14 scoreless vs. us right now. For his career he was at 181 2/3 innings of 3.81 ball prior to this outing, so while I wouldn't call him a superstar, I wouldn't call him a fool either. He did well last year and is doing well thus far this year.
  13. In his defense, that's $10M for 2 years, and despite a .190 average his 19 walks put his obp at .347. (Numbers going into the game) It could be worse, but yeah you'd like to see a higher average and some more power numbers, especially since we've been giving him a steady diet of lefties.
  14. I'm surprised that my "ban Jacko from Sox gamethreads" and "ban Jacko for 24 hours after every sox loss" amendment proposals haven't gained any traction.
  15. 86 pitches through 6 innings with the heart of our order coming up in the 7th.
  16. Nice AB by Ellsbury, 8 pitch walk.
  17. ...but the Yankees will still get lucky with their magic pixie dust that has allowed the corpses of Overbay, Wells, and Hafner so the Yankees can play way above their level and sustain it once their old core players return.
  18. He's at 66 pitches through 5 innings.
  19. Actually I'm happy Jacko posted it because it gives us the opportunity to jinx the crap out of it, early and often.
  20. I can't believe that Doubront is winning the pitch count battle after 4 innings.
  21. It is encouraging that Farrell at least acknowledges the problem with Ellsbury and perhaps if Victorino (the ideal option) were healthy enough play and lead off, then it would be easier to move Ellsbury in the order.
  22. I agree. I don't think one can win with stupid people, especially in the days of modern social media. Yeah, I think Kemp's donation plan is a bit weird but as far as I've known he's considered a classy individual and the fact that he's going out of his way to donate anything to a cause he knows first hand is newsworthy...as a positive. The people criticizing him should have their accounts deactivated imo. Their opinions aren't worth the cyberspace it takes to broadcast them.
  23. Or because he's so bad that the offense needs to work that much harder.
