  1. Bruins up 1-0 on the Flyers after the first period. Boston's also up 1-0 in fights in my opinion. I expect Philly to come out pissed in the remaining two periods. This should be an interesting contest between a good offense/bad defense and a bad offense/good defense.
  2. Lars looks lost. Small Sample Size notwithstanding, hopefully he doesn't start the regular season like this.
  3. Plus, if it does happen, then Plump will look like a genius for being the first and so far only one to predict it.
  4. This would probably be the most logical time for him to walk away peacefully, but I'd rather have Calhoun here. It depends on what other coaches are available at the time.
  5. Damn, my fantasy team takes a hit before I even start playing.
  6. I'd argue that this would be more meaningful to him and more pertinent to his achievements in Boston. While the ring would have a higher nominal value, I think the Fenway retirement would be more deserved and more correlated with his career and contributions than a WS ring that he was achieved a while after he was traded.
  7. Why not have him on the major league roster for 1 game? Wouldn't that accomplish the job better so that real fans can see him retire as a Red Sox rather than as some minor league "equivalent".
  8. You got the Flyers coming up next, and we're looking for revenge for stealing the Fenway game.
  9. Uconn women win their 72nd straight game by beating #8 West Virginia 60-32 for their 17th Big East Championship.
  10. Also, while I did not check his calculations, one of my friends determined that Kobe Bryant makes more money than the entire WNBA (player salaries).

  12. For the record, I would never watch a women's basketball game unless Uconn were playing, and I know very little about any other women's team. It's not like I'm a fan of the sport, I'm just a fan of this particular team.
  13. Absolutely right. I'm ashamed to be a Uconn (men's) fan. Oh well, as bad as the men are playing, the women are playing just as good. They go for win 72 and the Big East Title tonight at 7 on ESPN.
  14. Judging by how long it took to find 12 Talksox members that wanted to play....
  15. I wonder if there's anything preventing collusion from team's basically exchanging Type A FA's (ie Beckett and Lee) in order to gain draft picks. Theoretically it'd work.
  16. Do you think Beckett will sign a contract with a shoulder-protection clause? With that said, if the Sox are somehow able to balance the money and keep our rotation of what it is currently, then that would be amazing. Granted we are going to have some dead weight contracts off of our books (Lowell, Ortiz etc) however I think it might be better to replace those contracts with offensive production rather than more pitching, but that depends highly on what's available and at what cost. I trust the Red Sox staff to make the right decisions though.
  17. Jaguars sign DE Aaron Kampman from the Packers. That should help the league's worst pass rush. Although we missed out on Vanden Bosch, at least he's still out of the division/conference and we got a good player regardless.
  18. Agreed. If I could either win the NIT or lose in the first round of the NCAA, I'd choose to lose in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
  19. And if I had 2 rounds, I'd shoot Michael Kay twice to make sure he's dead.
  20. I am aware of that. When I said "they didn't make it past the 2nd round in those tournaments" it was referring to the 6 tournaments since 2002 that I had previously listed. The 1996 team was pretty damn good ftw.
