  1. Just saw this stat line posted by an Oakland beat writer... Josh Reddick since July 21, 2012: .203 Average in 147 games. Not that it makes the Bailey trade look any better but it least Reddick's not exactly lighting the world on fire either. It's kind of a meh trade at this point for both sides I think.
  2. Gomes is a bad ass... love the way he plays
  3. Yep. Any other agent and I'd say we have a decent shot at re-signing Ells either before the season ends or during the Red Sox exclusive window. With Boras, I'm not holding my breath. He's going to want to see what free agency offers and probably won't give us a shot to match or exceed. Only way we lock up Ells early is if we break the bank which I don't want either.
  4. Ells!!! 2nd one tonight!!! Boom!!!
  5. f*** yes... Drake is the real deal
  6. Need to lock it down here... let's go Britton!!!
  7. He's leaving everything up and out over the plate. No wonder he's getting hit hard.
  8. For f***'s sake... take his ass out of the game already.
  9. what an ugly f***ing game... only solace is we're winning by 5
  10. Never understood why they would have that as a feature, when they could've easily built the park without it. It's not as if Minute Maid has been around forever like Fenway... no reason at all to have it there.
  11. Great win. Really nice to see Peavy pitch lights out after coming over. He's a gamer... loves the intense atmosphere and relishes the opportunity to win a championship. Not many guys out there like that... always thought he'd be brilliant in Boston.
  12. The Sox have said as much, albeit in a much less revealing way. They love Workman and will have him back as soon as possible (10 days) to go into the pen or take Dempster's spot in the rotation.
  13. Umm... pretty sure the Rays boards were kinda quiet because they don't have real fans.
  14. Totally different teams. 2011 Sox won early with talent and lost late because of heart (or lack thereof). This team has talent AND heart. They go all out on every play and work their ass off to grind out wins. That 2011 team played well but never seemed to have that spark when they needed it. They had a couple grinders in Papi and Pedey, but they also had guys like AGon that seemed indifferent. No one on this team is indifferent... they go hard all the f***ing time. I really think the Gomes signing was the single greatest addition this team could have made all off-season. He is the ultimate team first guy and it's rubbed off on everyone.
  15. Not saying it wasn't. And I wasn't trying to defend him per se. Just saying he's no more a homer than any of us are. More obnoxious... absolutely.
  16. He's a homer but I've seen him respond well to other fans when they call him out on the Rays abysmal fan showout at games. He loves his team just like us but isn't so stupid to not realize the fans are horrible down there for not turning out to see a top notch club. He's obnoxious in a lot of ways, but I don't blame him for loving his team.
  17. What a f***ing game. I was at work all night and had to keep up via game cast... once it got to 7-1, I pretty much shut it down. Walked out of work and looked at the score to see how bad it ended only to come on with the score 7-6, two men on, nobody out and Papi at the plate. Knew right then we'd win this one. Listened to the Gomes, Drew, and Nava ABs on the way home. Unfreakingbelievable. To come back from 5 runs down in the bottom of the ninth to win is unreal. Love love love this team. It's a complete 180 from last year's putrid garbage.
  18. Perhaps. I think the Yankees would get him before us, and given their issues at 3rd they'd probably put a claim in.
  19. Glad you weren't the only one to be completely baffled by that post.
  20. I get that. Wasn't trying to make it seem like they're the only ones doing it. Just that they seem to be doing it the most.
  21. Your words, not mine. I'm sure player from other countries switch their DOB to help themselves along in the signing process. But the DR has made a cottage industry of it as of late, hence my comment.
  22. I agree. I'd be surprised if he's any older than he claims. He's from Aruba not the DR... somehow I doubt he's pulling a Fausto on us.
  23. Thought I'd start up this thread, now that the non-waiver deadline has come and passed. Just curious on who (if anyone) the Sox might take a run at through waivers via trade to patch up any minor leaks headed down the stretch. I don't think we need much aside from an arm in the pen perhaps, or maybe a bat if one becomes available at a decent price. That said, we do have internal candidates to fill those roles, so maybe we do nothing on the waiver front.
  24. Works for me. Bash around Felix and pad that division lead. Rays are due for a tumble back to reality. 21-5 isn't going to happen again.
