    You got me there... I got nothing left to play. Not that I ever thought Leyland was a genius or anything close. He's old as dirt and the game has long ago past him by.

    I hear ya... other thing is they had already removed Peralta in the top half, so if he drops Iglesias, he has no shortstop if they tie the game. Have to play for the win I guess, but hard to basically give up everything up the middle if they get to the 10th.

    Perhaps. He's about the only one they had to use. Iggy had good ABs most of the night though so Leyland had to be hoping he'd find a way to get on base and let Torii do something after.

    I was thinking the same thing. Then again, the Tigers have little in the way of power on their bench. They had already used Kelly as a defensive replacement in the top of the inning, and Pena to replace Avila, so he really had nothing to use.

    You can't get something decent back in a trade without giving something up in return. We decided to move on with Bogaerts as our guy going forward and have other talent coming up behind him. Getting Peavy back for this run and next year as well was a nice return IMO. Time will tell if Iggy turns out to have a brilliant career, but my money is on him being a utility guy a la David Eckstein etc, and not being an everyday player.
