  1. 4 ip and the guy was injured for most of the season already.
  2. It's not so much "bad pitching" but rather relief pitchers are no longer the ham and eggers they once were. Now there are lots of guys pumping 100 with wipeout sliders. Nasty two pitch pitchers that are so much better of an option that it doesn't make much sense to really have a starter struggle to get into the 7th or 8th inning with diminished stuff. Just call for the high octane guys you have sitting in the back and close out the game.
  3. This year's low attendance has more to do with how poorly with how they played last year than how they are playing this year. For comparison, the stadium was packed to the gills in 2018 when they had the greatest Sox team of our lifetime. It was actually LESS than 2017 and 2019.
  4. Putting Rafaela in CF fixes the IF defense how?
  5. Chase Shugart also got beat up a good bit last night. 0.2 INN, 5 ER, 2 BB, 5 H, 2 HR. He had a good stretch for a while, but really took it on the chin in a few outings. That pitching staff really doesn't have much going on and is pretty disappointing. May as well start speed running some of better prospects through the system. There's nobody in their way at AAA.
  6. “Sox best pinch hitter” swings at balls near his laces
  7. Not necessarily. Than a lunchpail middle reliever? Sure. Than a late inning guy that can possibly get you multiple innings? It's not so clear cut.
  8. Bello may have only given up 1 run, but he was walking quite the tightrope. It was far from a clean 4 innings. He had a monstrous pitch count early on. It's his fault they needed 5 innings of bullpen help.
  9. Trade him to NYY for Jasson Dominguez. Per BTV: Peraza/Dominguez/Mayea for Mayer
  10. Mariano Rivera has less career fWAR than Tony Fernandez. Therefore, he was less valuable than Tony Fernandez and should not be in the HOF.
  11. I wouldn't mind Kiké so much if he could just not throw the ball away every other inning. Maybe 2B helps with that? He's been bad defensively everywhere so far this season.
  12. I think so too. He's a very professional hitter and fits what the organization has been trying to add to this lineup.
  13. There was talk this offseason that Masa would struggle with velo in MLB. So far, he has a 641 SLG and +10 Run Value against 4 seamers. He's struggling against cutters and sliders.
  14. I wouldn't send Dalbec east on the Pike. When Duvall comes back, Duran goes back to being the 4th OFer. Maybe Masa gets more DH opportunities and Turner plays more 1B? Maybe?
  15. Mayer went 0-5. Send him back to GRE!
  16. We don't hear about Tampa's missed because all of those guys are underpaid and they play in a market that not a lot of people up here pay attention to. Bloom could sign a bunch of nobodies here, but we'd all remember them because we still do: Ryan Weber! Chris Mazza! Zack Godley!
  17. Duran would be the 4th OFer.
  18. 1B/3B/RF/LF/DH. That should be where he would see time long term.
  19. I don't like that direction.
  20. If you decrease the throws from 100 to 50, he goes to 17th out of 37. Feels about right
  21. I guess Clay Buchholz was fine until they took the Bullfrog away and he napped while holding his baby.
