  1. I believe Anthony will start in AA next season. At that point, it's not a far jump to MLB.
  2. He still practices and plays there. They still see it.
  3. I wouldn't start Ref against RHP.
  4. Hard to even be a 3rd C if you can't throw anyone out at all. His defense is really bad. His bat is really good though.
  5. Verdugo vs LHP 2023: 230 AVG 0 HR For his career, he only has 6 HR vs LHP. He turns into Jeff Frye when facing LHP.
  6. He was playing there fulltime and it was fine. When he went to CF without much experience, it was so much better that the coaching staff's eyes popped out of their heads and they decided at that point that he's better at CF. That's how much better he is at CF than SS.
  7. He can't hit LHP. Why do you want to watch loser baseball with a guy that can't hit lefties? Just sub him in after the bullpen gets going.
  8. JBJ skipped AAA before appearing in an MLB game. He was on the Opening Day roster in 2013 because of his hot Spring Training. He only had an 810 OPS at AA the year before. He was NOT ready (only about 600 professional AB's prior to appearing in MLB at age 22). Rafaela seems much more ready. Doesn't mean it'll work!
  9. Teel and Garcia are the only guys that have the skills to be able to realistically field the position full time and not be an 8th or 9th of the order bat. I wonder if Teel pushes Hickey off C at some point next season or if they keep him there for the reps? I think they should consider getting Hickey a LFer glove to increase his utility. He has no chance of being an MLB C right now. 0 CS this year.
  10. It's just wild that jacko kept minimizing the concerns about Rodon's health this offseason. I wanted no part of that contract on my team. He may give you guys a really good 2 years out of 5, but overall there's a lot of sunk cost in there.
  11. Players aren't just inputs on a spreadsheet. Change of scenery is real for some players. I think Kiké just needed a reset button. Sox wouldn't sit him out in CF. No other way to reset, but trade.
  12. Vs LHP Dugo 637 OPS Duvall 643 OPS Seems like they should just go: LF Masa CF Duran RF Ref (yuck defense) DH Turner Duvall has been -3 DRS this year. If they really don't see Dugo as a long term option, just sit him. Give the reps to Refsnyder, a guy that has put the work in.
  13. Confirmation bias. When players leave here they get better! What about when they don't like with Tapia or all the other castoffs that people don't bring up every two seconds. Even Matt Barnes wasn't that good this year. It's not like he turned the clock back to 2018 or something.
  14. If you get Mookie for another decade? Sure! They would have had to get under the cap in other ways (trade Xander, Devers, etc.). Our superstar now is a great player, but he's not Mookie.
  15. I think if you are ok with "soon" being next year, you'll be happy. Mayer Drohan Rafaela Yorke Wikelman Hickey Guerrero These guys are all AA or higher this season and could be on the MLB roster next year at some point. 2025 could include at least partial years from guys like: Roman Anthony Kyle Teel Luis Perales Brainer Bonaci Chase Meidroth Blaze Jordan That's a lot of names. Some won't make it. Some should be traded. The pipeline is much closer than some people realize.
  16. That is true. I was just commenting on the stuff that came before it. The second Springs trade was not great!
  17. You shou[ld have QUOTE=A Red Sox fan named Hugh;1553362]My brain......it hurts. seen how I originally formatted the post...
  18. They know that because they have seen it before and still see it when he plays there now.
  19. Duran is a bad CFer. If Abreu or Rosier (???) is on the roster, they are playing defense instead of Yoshida and Duran is playing LF. Rafaela should be the CFer. Abreu is athletic enough to be a RFer in Fenway. He has a good arm.
  20. moon, he didn't play ANY OF until 2021. Initially, he was just an IFer. He is a good SS, but when they put him out at CF he had natural instincts and was a revelation. They know what his defense is at SS. They only put him there once a week to give him the reps just in case.
  21. Now, good players leaving to suck and bad players leaving to be good is much closer to irony. However, since there are exceptions, it's not really irony either.
  22. It's not irony. It's what we expect to happen when a player leaves.
  23. But that doesn't seem like a fun thing to do?
