  1. Thanks Dave!
  2. You can "game the system" and get cheaper players by signing the injury risks!
  3. You're not holding out hope for Ryan Fernandez anymore? Mata is going to put directly into the pen. Maybe he can get some control in shorter stints. Liu should be moved into a relief role like Murphy/Winckowski. We may see Wikelman moved in that bulk relief role too, unfortunately.
  4. The FO definitely needs to start dealing some of the prospects sooner than later to actually help the MLB team. They need to pick the guys that will help the team and the guys they can move on from. They are just hoarding too much right now. We'll see what type of moves they make prior to the Rule 5 draft, but I don't know what to project for this group. They've made some really mysterious transactions the past few years. Next year is Bloom's last contract year. I wouldn't be shocked if they let him go. I'd be shocked if they extended him. They shouldn't extend him IMO. He needs to earn it with a strong offseason and a playoff birth next season. Because we don't directly hear from John Henry, it's hard to really determine what the direction is that he sees for this club. All I've heard is that Werner wants to spend, Henry doesn't and they wish Bloom did more at the deadline.
  5. Not sure he's quite there from what SoxProspects has said recently. I guess his stuff has ticked back a little. We'll need to see if he can do it in AAA and then maybe he can be a late season addition next year? Some of the younger depth arms are getting closer and they shouldn't have to rely on waiver wire garbage as much eventually.
  6. To be fair, he was a decent prospect at one time (was the Opening Day starter for Padres in 2018), but that has gone out the window after another string of injuries in 2021. https://www.pitcherlist.com/dinelson-lamet-and-the-potential-of-lost-potential/
  7. Nope. The only thing I remember about Bloom's preseason feature in the Globe (?) was the bottle of mediocre Whistle Pig that he brought to Spring Training.
  8. Technically, their record is above .500 and they are doing better. If your only goal is to look at the standings, you may end up miserable though. They are on pace for 83 wins which is much more than a lot of people on here guessed them for. Shouldn't they be happy?
  9. He's a car salesman. He's an outward facing guy to stand between JH and the public so that JH doesn't put his foot in his mouth the way guys like Angelos does.
  10. I don't know what Kennedy quote you guys are referencing.
  11. Their job is to intentionally be negative 24/7. That's their gig.
  12. People said the same about "Ben the Boob."
  13. CHB is not the true pulse of anything. I feel like a better judge of how Sox fans feel is Jared Carrabis. He's not an ivory tower guy like CHB.
  14. The FO is responsible for constructing the team. What are you talking about? Even if he didn't personally hand pick the players and it was the GM and not the CBO, Bloom's in charge so he gets the blame.
  15. "The Red Sox got smoked because of how the team was constructed on April 1." "Then you're not blaming Bloom for badly constructing the team on April 1. He's blameless!!!" I literally was blaming Bloom for his roster construction on April 1. WTH.
  16. Do people still wish they brought Story (0-4, 3 K's) back earlier? Seems like he knew he wasn't ready?
  17. Yeah, Teel seems like the complete package when looking at poptimes and arm strength. I don't know what robo umps will look like and they may just go with a "challenge system" rather than full robo which would still make framing somewhat important. Even if Teel develops into a solid longterm starter, being able to develop Brannon and/or Garcia would be fantastic.
  18. That depends on what he thinks about "two game swings."
  19. Is it a two pitch swing after a called pitch on 0-0? What is a one game swing?
  20. 0.03 FIP and 22.5 K/9 in the AZL this year!
  21. They just sent him to a nice baseball farm upstate.
  22. 3 HBP in 5 Innings? That's an unsustainable rate for him!
  23. So? It's just a game where there is a guaranteed one game swing. Over the course of a 3 game series, a team could either gain 3 games, fall behind 3 games or do something in between. Not each of those things are a 2 game swing. At the end of a series sweep, it isn't a 6 game swing! If the Sox beat the Royals and the BJ's lose to whoever they are playing today, is it a one game swing?
  24. Teel is catching and hitting 2nd tonight for GRE. Perales is pitching.
