  1. There's a difference between the "it's a bad contract" and the commentary about Boras stopping the bidding and whatever. I give them credit for focusing on the guy they really liked and just giving him the money. They were hard pressed to do that for others. They just may have chose the wrong person to do that for. He needs another season before he's written off though. Also, Rafaela, Duran and Abreu are still largely unknowns and can still fall flat in 2024. The depth may be a mirage.
  2. There are only 23 players with more than 5 bWAR. That's less than 1 per team. In fact, only 14 teams have a player with 5 bWAR, less than half the league.
  3. We all have our own faults.
  4. If they do that for a player like Yamamoto, will it matter? As long as they're bringing in the right players, I don't see the problem in it.
  5. Focusing on Duvall/Turner/Masa when they needed starting pitching was an obviously bad choice. I think we all agreed on that at the time. It made no sense to wait out the market the way he did.
  6. Chaim probably had a say in the top few rounds and the overall direction of the draft. The CBO is the one setting the tone. The scouts and others are grading the players.
  7. It's true that pitching is very risky. Think of Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker. Leiter isn't a top 100 prospect now. Kumar Rocker got TJS.
  8. Schilling is the worst. Just more evidence how horrible and self centered he is. Wake didn't want the news to get out, but Schill put it out there anyway. What an *******.
  9. Antonetti has been with Cleveland since '99. Why would he leave to go somewhere to get fired in 4 years?
  10. Who's the shiny new toy though?
  11. I believe it was originally included in the All-Round in 1904, but was deemed to much of a risk to spectators. Most likely it'll return at the '28 Olympics in LA where it'll be featured on the Santa Monica boardwalk. If the robot combatants get out of control, the psychic cat on 3rd street should be able to quelle the violence.
  12. For one glorious evening he was.
  13. I am old enough to remember how great he looked in an Expos uni.
  14. NoT eNoUgH ShOrTsToPs LiStEd!
  15. Larry would have cared. Bring back Larry!
  16. Fuld - promotion Sabean - promotion Ng - lateral Hazen - lateral (though I think he has taken himself out of consideration) I'm not sure if there are dark horse candidates or who has the inside track.
  17. If that's the case, I think they'd just make the announcement and move on with their lives.
  18. If not, it's because the person they want is currently employed somewhere else.
  19. It's never gotten to the point between me and another poster where multiple other posters were telling me to knock it off over the course of months. It just never happened. You two just can't leave each other alone at all. For example, moon decided to call me pompous today. Was I going to respond negatively and get into a pissing match about it or just move on with my life because none of this matters?
  20. He is probably in the process of being taught and it takes time?
  21. I'm still young at heart. f*** Grady Little.
  22. Yeah, Valdez has a horrible glove. The Sox tried moving him all over the place when he first got to WOO, but they decided to leave him at 2B because he was just terrible everywhere. His bat needs to carry that glove and it's a good bat, but not a great one.
  23. I don't remember him getting much grief on here for that. I was never mad at him. He shouldn't have been in that position.
  24. My wife would disagree.
