  1. notin is getting those kickbacks! Maybe coupons for BOGO Fenway Franks.
  2. My source is telling me the are NOT signing Soler.
  3. Right now, players aren't coming here because the Sox aren't offering competitive contracts. It has nothing to do with the state of the Sox or the weather. The only guy who stiffed them was Eflin who went to the Rays to play closer to home for the same money.
  4. @MacCerullo The Red Sox have announced that tickets for Opening Day and all games through June 5 will go on sale Thursday.
  5. The Snell thing has been floated off and on over the offseason and then was mentioned as being very likely per a REDDITOR. If they are looking to sign a RH DH, why not just bring JD back?
  6. Sox could always spend more since their fans have to spend more?
  7. It's a combination of money, team quality and location. Money is most often the significant factor in the decision.
  8. Speier characterizes the Red Sox as “lurking” on Imanaga but indicates they may not be among the most involved suitors.
  9. Seth Lugo came up just because nothing else was going on then IMO. Teoscar was a clear need and the Sox were noted to have been in discussions with him. Same with Yamamoto. I think the only other FA's that the Sox expressed interest in were ERod and Maldonado. Guys left on the board that the Sox have expressed interest in are Paxton, Imanaga, Soler, Merrifield and Snell (maybe?).
  10. Soler is fine, but they are boxed in with Masa on the roster.
  11. I discount them being interested in retaining fans at this point.
  12. I just don't think Masa should be out in LF as much as he was last year. 84 GS was clearly too much for him. If they sign Soler, he'd have to play even more LF than before if Soler is fulltime DH.
  13. Instead of Soler, they could go after Hoskins who could also fill in at LF/1B here and there. Hoskins has a higher career wRC+. Consistently is a 2 fWAR guy, unlike the rollercoaster Soler. Similar batting profiles.
  14. Hard to pair Masa and Soler on the same team IMO. My guess is that they miss out on Soler and I'm not all that upset about it. I mean, you were just complaining earlier about them adding offensive guys with bad gloves. This is a move that does just that.
  15. If they offered 350, Dodgers would have matched it. Frankly, the Sox weren't serious about him and the Sox haven't been serious about spending money in a few years.
  16. “Barring a last-minute reversal, a league source said Chicago is not seen as a likely landing spot for Shota Imanaga, the Japanese pitcher who will likely receive a contract worth at least $100 million, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.” Sox really going to give this guy 100M?
  17. In '22, he struggled with back issues all year causing him to miss a lot of time. With KC in '21, he just had bad BABIP luck. He's been decent aside from those two stretches. However, I'd be worried about the back issues as he missed a little time last year with the same thing. I'm not sure that's a problem that is going to get better as he gets older regardless if he's playing LF or not.
  18. Are you suggesting the Sox move the team?
  19. Sox offered 2/28M. That would have been fine. I get the Sox not matching the Dodgers offer if Henry has a budget well under the CBT.
  20. Houck at least was healthy enough to pitch most of the year in the rotation. His ceiling is still the back end of that rotation and is more of a fill in when needed. He'll be 28 and really won't get much better than what he's already shown. Unfortunately, his stuff hasn't really played up as a reliever because teams can just sub in lefties at the end of the game against him.
  21. He would have the same problem with any other team.
  22. Why has Seattle ownership put its team under financial constraints? They waited a few decades to get to the playoffs and then just decided to pull the plug?
  23. The 2020 team and the 2023 team shared: Verdugo, Raffy, Houck, Dalbec, Arroyo and Pivetta. That's it. Dalbec is in AAA. Pivetta is a 5th starter. Arroyo is gone. Houck is a tweener and most just want him in the pen. Verdugo was traded. Is Raffy the overrated one?
  24. It was worth it to see if Whitlock could turn into a #3. I think we've seen that it just doesn't work and his contract is fine for a bullpen arm.
