  1. Develop your own pitching and you can have them for SIX YEARS before they are even done with arbitration!
  2. His final start of the year (for a guy who dropped off): 9/30 6 IP 1 H 0 BB 7 K 0 R It was the best start of his season... after dropping off and being tired or whatever...
  3. Ryan Weber is still available in free agency.
  4. Houck could never.
  5. Kyle Boddy is as good as it gets for now.
  6. I disagree. Bloom could never trade Verdugo or Sale. After Mookie, he tried moving Vaz and then couldn't trade another player again.
  7. Sox need pitching, but they don't want to spend on it. They have the 4th ranked farm system, but the pitching is ranked 29th out of 30. The farm is just stacked with everyday guys.
  8. Pivetta got better in the pen because he developed a sweeper as I've mentioned a ton of times this offseason. It's why he went back to the rotation and pitched great down the stretch.
  9. Crag said they are giving them all the chance to start and stretching them out, but Winck has zero shot of starting in this rotation unless there are a bunch of injuries.
  10. Yes, it's where their stuff works the best. Winck's stuff plays up in the pen. He's a mediocre starter even in AAA. Houck can't get through an order a third time and even drops off considerably the second time. Whitlock just has never stayed healthy when converted to a starter role. It just seems obvious EVEN THOUGH IT HASN'T BEEN REPORTED OR THEY HAVEN'T OUTRIGHT SAID IT.
  11. Uh, ok. If you think Winckowski has a better track record at starting, please let tell me about it. Feel free to replace my comment of moving Houck to the pen with moving Whitlock to the pen. If Crag and Cora put Whitlock in the rotation again, he will end up on the IL 100%. It's not worth it.
  12. I didn't know that about Real Madrid. I'd pay yearly dues if I had to. I had no idea about the history of the Padres and Joan Kroc. It's a shame that MLB squashed her wishes for public ownership of that franchise.
  13. If I extrapolated Houck's starts last year to a full season it'd get to 161. Again, it moves Houck to the pen. He can get through the order a third time without turning into a pumpkin like Houck. He's just not a very compelling 5th starter. There's no ceiling to look forward to.
  14. NEW TARGET ACQUIRED @rotoworld_bb Cubs and Red Sox have interest in RHP Stanek
  15. Sweet Caroline will be on the menu no matter what.
  16. Sign Lauer at 1/5 and move Houck to the pen? Does it greatly impact the Sox? He's only thrown 150 innings once.
  17. https://www.overthemonster.com/2024/1/25/24045834/the-red-sox-dont-need-john-henry-and-tom-werner-free-agent-rumors-news-liverpool-fenway-sports-group
  18. This is incorrect as their ownership doesn't want to spend on a team that they don't see as contending. They are waiting until the prospects develop and then they will spend again. For now, any additional spending is seen as throwing money away.
  19. @rotoworld_bb Report: Blue Jays have "very real" interest in Soler
  20. @JeffPassan New at ESPN+: Understanding MLB's slow free agent market -- and how this is nothing compared to what happened six years ago. Also included: Details on the biggest names left and how they are almost certain to go into February as free agents still. @redsoxstats The Red Sox are among those listed as teams involved for Boras' "big four" remaining free agents that are expecting deals for $100M+. Let's see how that works out.
  21. Lauer's spin rate dropped off last year. His Statcast looks like Mr Freeze.
  22. After that, there's not a whole lot to get excited about.
  23. For the available FA, they've expressed interest in: Soler Duvall Turner (Turner said he hasn't heard from them) Montgomery How likely is it that the Red Sox would get 2 of the top 6 remaining FA's (Soler and Monty)? Seems pretty low considering all that we've heard!
  24. Players are starting to come off the board again and the Sox are not really being linked to players anymore. I don't see much happening here on out for them.
  25. "Oh s***, I shouldn't have said that because we still have tickets to sell!"
