  1. You give up prospects and then get a full year to negotiate with the player to extend prior to FA. The goal would be to not have Burnes (or whoever) not reach FA.
  2. Dugo will be better at Yankee Stadium most likely. The trade may look "bad" at the outset. I'm not really worried about it. Moving deck chairs.
  3. The trade is really: Verdugo Robertson Santos for O'Neill Fitts Weissert Judice O'Neill isn't as good as Verdugo, but he fits the RHB hole the Sox have and the prospects the Sox received are a lot better than what they gave up. Seems like the trades are fair swap today. I had no issue with either move.
  4. Per reports, Slaten has a much better chance of sticking than most other players taken, especially Drohan. There's a 50/50 chance that Fernandez and Drohan are back with the Sox this year.
  5. I'm sure he can. Will he? IDK.
  6. Once the prospects are ready, the payroll will start to decrease and the reliance on expensive FA's will go down. Possibly try trading Story for payroll relief? Honestly, they need to do something different to show the fans they care. Managing the CBT the way they have hasn't worked so far. 2004: Cashed all their chips in 2007: Used prospect capital to get #2 2013: Most unlikely championship and really feels like the most due to pure luck 2018: Used prospect capital to get #4 We've been in the wilderness ever since. Need to run it back and use prospect capital via trades and promotions to get #5.
  7. Oh, and Judice debuts at 57. I like that Song is holding strong at 60.
  8. Slaten is 24th, about where we thought as well.
  9. Fitts is ranked 11th as of today.
  10. They signed him and we all knew about the current injury situation. 2 years later, he needs to prove his worth by playing a full productive season.
  11. I'm sure he would have been allowed to spend up to the CBT. He just didn't trust himself to not go over again.
  12. If the Sox don't spend this offseason, it's on Henry IMO.
  13. They always try to find some sort of excuse. I think there is rot that comes directly from Henry's office. Yes, we got 4 championships because he purchased the Sox, but he is currently holding the organization down.
  14. It's probably the approach that OWNERSHIP wants. They just want a CBO that can make moves at the deadline and be a bit more of a difference maker. I don't think Breslow was coming in to tear the whole thing down.
  15. Yes, I'd rather have Yamamoto and Montgomery plus than Ohtani's contract.
  16. Henry is concerned about CBT implications and I wouldn't want to spend 70AAV on what could be a DH only guy.
  17. If they stay under the tax line again, there should be pitch forks. The should spend right up to the 2nd CBT threshold. Trade prospects for a starter. Sign Yamamoto no matter what. They are the BOSTON RED SOX.
  18. Down bad for Lugo? WTH?
  19. That contract is wild.
  20. Foot and knee injuries are common for roid users now? Give me a break.
  21. What was the injury that sidelined him that year?
  22. He gave up nothing for a one year rental. It’s not a big deal.
  23. That he has big arms?
  24. Posters that provide valid info??? Is that allowed here??? WTH?
  25. The move is whatever, but to see some people so upset is wild.
