  1. Reese was dealing with an injury last year and his defense was disappointing. He was above average in '23 but slipped in '22. Wong had good pop times and a nice arm, but his framing is still bad.
  2. His problem is he didn't do a teardown in '22. At the deadline he should have traded Sale and JD as offers were on the table. Xander and Eovaldi were given QO's that offseason and the comp picks would have been higher. A case could be made that he should have sold high on Schreiber too. That puts the rebuild in motion sooner. Hill and Wacha were probably seen as damaged goods and unable to be dealt at the deadline. At the '23 deadline or sooner, Paxton should have been traded.
  3. No impact for this year. Upside for next? They really don't care about this season.
  4. Churning the bottom 10 guys with waiver claims is easy. You don't even have to call other GM's to make those moves!
  5. To give credit where credit is due, you were on Abreu and Valdez back in '22 before anyone else on this board, I think.
  6. Werner is the most reliable source in the Hub of the Universe!
  7. He was a guy who always second guessed himself and never wanted to lose a trade. He took the path of least resistance, which was to do nothing.
  8. It's a strong side platoon DH.
  9. 880 OPS in '22 in AA. 1112 OPS in '23 in AA. He was just pumping up stats in '23. Wasn't learning anything.
  10. It's clear that Henry preferred inexperienced guys that he can boss around.
  11. Valdez had a 670 OPS vs LHP at Sugar Land in '22. https://www.milb.com/sugar-land/stats/2022?split=vl&playerPool=ALL It was clear that he had no business in AA '22.
  12. If Reyes sucks, Valdez isn't the promotion IMO. Reyes is on the squad to field multiple positions. Valdez can only play 2B and he's awful there. They'd call up Hamilton or Romy Gonzalez.
  13. That's 1 year at 5.9 fwar. Rendon went 5.9/5.9/6.8. Xander didn't have that in his arsenal.
  14. Letting Bogey go wasn't a mistake. Not offering him a lower contract ahead of time was. Letting Mookie go and not offering him 375M was a mistake.
  15. I think he tried the "be competitive while rebuilding" but he should have torn it all down in '22.
  16. Very chaotic.
  17. Also, your listed '23 split is only for Corpus Christie.
  18. Valdez: 393 OPS MLB in '23 703 OPS WOO in '23 559 OPS WOO in '22 I don't care about his inflated offensive numbers from TX. It's not a surprise that both he and Abreu so a decrease in production right after leaving hitter friendly MiLB parks in TX. Every scouting report on Valdez talks about his platoon issues.
  19. He's better than out 38-40 slot guys too.
  20. I agree on both accounts. It's specifically why I dealt Valdez for a non-40 man guy.
  21. I agree, Bloom is a bad GM.
  22. Too loaded up on ice cream. "Don't ask those tough questions again unless you want the free Coke machine to vanish..."
  23. See, if we were really on the payroll, these BTV deals would be getting done!
  24. They should have tried harder because they should have given Mookie a counteroffer! Mookie should still be a Red Sox no matter what. Ownership FAILED! FACT!!!
  25. Rendon was coming of back to back to back 5/6 fWAR seasons. That's not where Xander was then.
