Wacha and Lugo were not legit targets. ERod was on the Sox' radar, but the other team made a better offer. Gray has a history of ass against the AL East. The inaction may come back to bite them, but the guys off the board right now aren't the problem IMO.
If they don't spend, then complain. I understand the frustration built up over the previous few offseasons, but at least wait until after the big fish actually get away.
Look at post 4316 then comment. It's in bold. Only one poster on here posts annoyingly like that. Obviously TalkSox had a seizure and threw one of your bad posts onto my account.
Why couldn't he pitch more innings in 2020?!?!?!?!?
He was injured in 2019, but you need to account for MiLB innings before you can say what he does or doesn't throw on an annual basis.
2017: 145
2018: 116 (promoted to MLB midseason and pitched 30 games out of the pen)
Yeah, he's a 3 ERA guy, not a low 2's. He has the ace upside where you might get a CY season out of him here or there, but he should be solid if he can get innings. He usually has 90th percentile whiff and k rates.
Have someone else that can close out games too like Whitlock or Houck? Need to have someone ready for next year anyway. May as well figure out an in house option and save some $$$.
Why? His numbers are decent in Japan, but he's most likely a 3 over here. Snell has ace upside. Imanaga does not. Monty throws a ton of innings. Imanaga throws even less innings than Yamamoto does. I like Imanaga, but there's a chance that his contract is NOT worth it. His game may not translate as well.
I think they need to trade some prospects and buy some FA's. I think they need to do both. They need a well rounded approach to fix the flaws of their current pipeline.
