  1. You could get one year of Burnes for that.
  2. With Bleis, I just don't think the value is there yet. Trading partners want either elite and/or major league ready talent. Bleis as a prospect is just speculation at this point. He's shown nothing above the complex league.
  3. Yorke is still high in their rankings due to proximity to MLB. He's still on the younger side being a HS draftee. His defense is better than initially projected. They have noted specific concerns in regards to Yorke, but it's not like the guys right behind him are wart-free (Perales, Abreu, Wikelman). Cespedes could leapfrog this grouping, but it's too hasty to do that for a guy who hasn't played stateside yet. IMO, the Sox system is pretty deep, but there are no top end prospects aside from the big three (Anthony, Mayer, Teel). Everyone else is pretty far behind that group. There are some interesting guys for sure, but being interesting isn't the same as being a top 50 prospect.
  4. Too many voices that are not on the same page. That's the problem with having such a large FO. Would have been better off saying nothing at all than running with "full throttle" and "World Series" during the Breslow presser.
  5. The most successful teams are able to use financial might to attract and retain talent, but also supplement any remaining holes with their farm (either via trades or promotion). Sox seem to now just ignore the financial aspect of all of this and think they can just grow it internally. I think that limits the overall ceiling and window.
  6. It relied on health AND all the prospects advancing according to schedule. Unfortunately, that's not how prospect pipelines typically work. There ARE injuries. Prospects DO flameout. Sox better hope they can thread that needle.
  7. He's 5'9" and can't hit lefties. Why have him as the backup 1B?
  8. Below market contract!
  9. SoxProspects doesn't propose trades in advance. If they are signing Kelly, Snell and Buehler then Fitts is still an emergency callup from WOO. Schreiber no longer looks like a late inning guy. Bernardino is most likely a one year wonder.
  10. Merrill Kelly is a FA next offseason.
  11. I thought Slaten, Dalbec and Mata had higher value. I'm not fond of Dalbec, but they don't have anyone else to back up 1B at the moment. Until that happens, he stays on the 40 man. Slaten probably sticks around since Breslow thought enough of him to trade for him. Mata has a higher ceiling than the other guys on the list. I think they hold onto him and try to sneak him through waivers at the end of ST.
  12. You think Hill and Wacha looked like reclamation projects though?
  13. Up next on the DFA list: Weiss Jacques Castillo Criswell Walter Hamilton
  14. The most likely casualty once Bailey was hired.
  15. Are you referring to Wacha and Hill? Hill '21 1.7 fWAR Hill '22 1.8 fWAR Wacha '21 1.1 fWAR Wacha '22 1.5 fWAR They didn't really do THAT much better than what they had done the previous year if they were "reclamation projects."
  16. 2025: C Teel 1B Casas 2B Grissom SS Mayer 3B Devers RF Anthony CF Rafaela LF Teoscar DH Masa Bench C Wong UTIL Duran OF Abreu IF Yorke SP Snell SP Buehler SP Kelly SP Bello SP Crawford RP Whitlock RP Houck RP Wikelman RP Perales RP Winckowski RP Slaten RP Campbell RP Guerrero
  17. It's what it seems like to some people. Others see hope in those 7 bullet points.
  18. Llovera DFA'd to make room for Giolito.
  19. Well, the real high risk signings are the high dollar/long term ones. Wacha/Hill/Richards aren't high risk as the the deals were short and the amounts were relatively meager.
  20. And now none of them are here. If he chose Betts, he'd still be here.
  21. What do you expect the Sox to add this offseason to make this team better than the previous two iterations? No Monty. No Snell. No Burnes.
  22. Everything in the offseason is pretend. That's what BTV is best for.
  23. It seems like that's what FO is doing with how everything is being handled. I'm just reading the tea leaves. 1. No to Yamamoto 2. Sale/Monty are too expensive 3. Go cheap on Giolito, but allow him an opt out after one year 4. Trade Sale for a prospect that is going to need time to develop 5. Trade Verdugo for MiLB guys 6. FO told a FA they need to clear MORE payroll before they make a competitive offer 7. Rumor is they are looking to deal Jansen, Martin and/or Story Does that sound like the plan of a team that is looking to compete for real?
  24. We don't know how eager he is! We know that he'd show up to ST looking like one of the puppets from Genesis' Land of Confusion.
  25. He signed for 1x16 (includes 2M buyout) coming off shoulder surgery. His velo will probably be down, but it's not a bad risk for a one year deal.
