  1. Instead of Soler, they could go after Hoskins who could also fill in at LF/1B here and there. Hoskins has a higher career wRC+. Consistently is a 2 fWAR guy, unlike the rollercoaster Soler. Similar batting profiles.
  2. Hard to pair Masa and Soler on the same team IMO. My guess is that they miss out on Soler and I'm not all that upset about it. I mean, you were just complaining earlier about them adding offensive guys with bad gloves. This is a move that does just that.
  3. If they offered 350, Dodgers would have matched it. Frankly, the Sox weren't serious about him and the Sox haven't been serious about spending money in a few years.
  4. “Barring a last-minute reversal, a league source said Chicago is not seen as a likely landing spot for Shota Imanaga, the Japanese pitcher who will likely receive a contract worth at least $100 million, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.” Sox really going to give this guy 100M?
  5. In '22, he struggled with back issues all year causing him to miss a lot of time. With KC in '21, he just had bad BABIP luck. He's been decent aside from those two stretches. However, I'd be worried about the back issues as he missed a little time last year with the same thing. I'm not sure that's a problem that is going to get better as he gets older regardless if he's playing LF or not.
  6. Are you suggesting the Sox move the team?
  7. Sox offered 2/28M. That would have been fine. I get the Sox not matching the Dodgers offer if Henry has a budget well under the CBT.
  8. Houck at least was healthy enough to pitch most of the year in the rotation. His ceiling is still the back end of that rotation and is more of a fill in when needed. He'll be 28 and really won't get much better than what he's already shown. Unfortunately, his stuff hasn't really played up as a reliever because teams can just sub in lefties at the end of the game against him.
  9. He would have the same problem with any other team.
  10. Why has Seattle ownership put its team under financial constraints? They waited a few decades to get to the playoffs and then just decided to pull the plug?
  11. The 2020 team and the 2023 team shared: Verdugo, Raffy, Houck, Dalbec, Arroyo and Pivetta. That's it. Dalbec is in AAA. Pivetta is a 5th starter. Arroyo is gone. Houck is a tweener and most just want him in the pen. Verdugo was traded. Is Raffy the overrated one?
  12. It was worth it to see if Whitlock could turn into a #3. I think we've seen that it just doesn't work and his contract is fine for a bullpen arm.
  13. According to BTV, Masa is an overpay for Kim and Darvish. I'd do it though.
  14. Sox should eat zero cash in any deal if they are hard up for money.
  15. I think Masa has a solid year 2, but that's really just flushing Bloom down the toilet.
  16. Sox need to "reduce payroll" and look into other areas before signing someone like Teoscar according to Rosenthal. Also need to "reduce payroll" before they sign another pitcher according to other reports. Who else is going to go?
  17. Rosenthal states that Sox are open to trading Yoshida and have heard from a few teams about him.
  18. Brad Keller projects at 0.2 fWAR. He doesn't get put on the list.
  19. After Snell and Monty, it was last year's fWAR and then some guys tacked on at the end. I'd go (factoring in contract costs): Monty Stroman Woodruff Paxton Ryu Snell Clevinger Imanaga Kershaw German Greinke Lorenzen Bauer Urias Y Rodriguez Junis Manaea
  20. @tylermilliken_ According to @JimBowdenGM, the finalist for Shota Imanaga are the Red Sox, Cubs, Angels, and Giants. He has until January 11th to make a decision on which big league team to sign with.
  21. FA SP: Snell - rarely goes 130 innings Monty - horse, but is going to be overpaid, Sox should be able to afford Stroman - used to be Mr. Reliable but less innings the past two years Kershaw - LAD or TX only most likely Clevinger - injuries, character issues, high xFIP, low whiff rate Lorenzen - poor man's Seth Lugo Woodruff - sign to Paxton rehab deal? Urias - may spend time in jail over the course of the contract Manaea - entire statcast page is blue, Bailey worked with him and put him in the pen, not mention of them being linked says a lot Greinke - back end starter, not much meat left on the bone Paxton - health concerns we all know about German - glug glug glug, lots of hard contact Ryu - left of TOR playoff squad, injuries piling up for 37 year old Junis - elite velo, probably more of a bullpen arm Imananga - led Japan in HR's given up, goes well with HR's given up by Gio! Bauer - all around great guy, no PR concerns, more often than not was a 4 ERA guy until playing with sticky stuff Y Rodriguez - reports are he's a bullpen guy
  22. I wouldn't want to sign Soler. Teoscar? Sure. Duvall? Sure. Duvall can at least backup 1B too!
  23. His ass got sacked.
  24. Feel free to read the article.
