    Blocks Above Average: McGuire 0 Wong -7 (last place) Framing Runs: McGuire 0 Wong -1 Poptime: McGuire 1.96 (26th out of 61) Wong 1.94 (19th) Stealing Runs Above Average: McGuire 1 (last year -1) Wong 1 (last year 5) McGuire was banged up and his defense suffered last year. Wong had some arm injuries this spring and has been slow to get control of the running game so far. If Wong wasn't so horrible at framing, I think there wouldn't be a long term question about him here. Wong 392 WOBA, 307 xWOBA. The metrics aren't super thrilled about his offense going forward.

    Downs made the big leagues. He even hit a HR for BOS.

    Chris Sale has a higher career OPS with BOS than Vaughn Grissom. Should have kept him and let him play 2B on non-throwing days.

    Bloom was going to trade him for Seth Lugo and then give Lugo a 3 year extension.

    I see it making sense to do fire sales when you have guys with expiring deals. Now, the only like that are Refsnyder (team option), O'Neilll, Martin, Pivetta, Jansen. I wouldn't move the other guys unless you are bowled over with an offer. I would never say that a player is untouchable, but the trade would certainly have to be in the Sox favor to pull the trigger.

    This level? Probably not. A fairly valuable level that keeps him starting at LF/CF? Sure.

    I'm not advocating for it unless you are getting a really great return, which I don't think they'd get.

    Easy no on Manoah, Gray and Detmers. Would have to think about Gore and Lodolo.

    I don't think anyone is even applying a FINAL grade right now. I think it's fine to state how you feel right now and provide a status update.

    When they traded Sale, it seemed like a move that was putting this season into the punt category.

    Did this trade improve them at 2B? We haven't seen it yet.

    They traded Sale for Grissom, not Ketel Marté. If they needed hitting, they should have gotten it. Grissom will be a question mark until he actually produces at the MLB level. I'd rather go with him than the other guys they have, but that's not saying much.

    @tylermilliken_ As the weather gets better, the Big 3 are getting hotter. Stats in the month of May: Mayer - 75 PA - .294/.347/.471/.817 - 1 HR - 9 2 B - 133 wRC+ Anthony - 71 PA - .283/.380/.483/.864 - 1 HR - 7 2B - 147 wRC+ Teel - 56 PA - 354/.446/.521/.967 - 1 HR - 5 2B - 181 wRC+

    He'll be 32 after his last year of arbitration. I expect a decline around then for him at least in terms of his speed, which is his greatest asset.

    Not sure if it's the "payroll department" or just their own internal player valuation where they assign a dollar value to each player and don't go over it an inch.

    Duran - LF Rafaela - CF Anthony - RF Abreu - 4th OFer Refsnyder - 5th OFer The only near term filler from the minors would possibly be Lugo, but that guy has had a very volatile development track and his defense is really LF only at this point. Castro, Bleis and others are still in A ball and lower with uncertain timetables and projections.

    I wonder if Imanaga cools off after teams see him the second time. Wheeler is running a career low BABIP right now, but he's having an amazing post age 30 run.

    He's cheap for the next few years. Enjoy him as long as he's playing well. Guys like him don't typically age well so just keep him around until FA. Unless you're getting an ace back, why would you move him at this point?

    It's May so there's lots of baseball left to play. That would be the biggest obstacle IMO.

    Having a 305 OPS in 53 PA's will do it.
