  1. It's interesting because I've been following the A's drama and there is a split in the fanbase with some fans wanting to go to Opening Day and others saying that everyone should boycott and anyone who gives Fischer money isn't a true fan. If I was in their shoes, I'd have no idea how I'd feel. A despicable owner who s*** all over the franchise for two decades is moving the beloved franchise and you only have a limited amount of time to see your team in your hometown. Do you just give up your fandom? Do you root for a few more years? Rage against the dying of the light?
  2. I agree. I used to really love watching the Patriots. Over time, I really grew to despise Bob Kraft. I think he's just a scumbag and can't really get behind him at all. All the concussion nonsense that has gone on in the NFL really pushed it over the edge as well. I couldn't tell you the last time I sat down and watched a regular season Pats game on a Sunday afternoon.
  3. ??? The players haven't even had a strike since 94-95. Every stoppage since then has been a lockout and on the owners. The issue is that reporters are beholden to the owners for the most part and a lot of people just don't think for themselves. I think there are enough pro-player voices if you know where to look.
  4. I think the ST lineups with Duran in RF are just to get Masa reps in LF. Duran in RF in Fenway would need a cutoff to get the ball to 2B. He had a runner tag from 2B to 3B on him last weekend when he was playing LF on a ball that wasn't even deep.
  5. Repeat of Mar/Apr '23 Duvall.
  6. I'm content with just leaving O'Neillllll on the bench if it comes down to it. A starting OF of Abreu/Rafaela/Duran is athletic as all get out. No reason to trade Duran until a guy like Anthony is ready to take his spot. Even then, it may turn out that keeping all 4 works out best and you just use Abreu as the 4th OFer.
  7. Wish you would step back from that ledge, my friend You could cut ties with all the lies That you've been living in
  8. Crawford had more starts than relief appearances in 2023. Most of the relief arms have looked good so far in ST. They should be good this year too, but could be run down early as others have said. If Bello, Pivetta or Crawford get injured, it could get ugly.
  9. It's not odd at all. Fans cheer for the players. Owners don't do anything for fans to cheer about except increase prices and ask for the public to subsidize their new ballpark.
  10. It's not the pitch clock. It's the increase in pitcher velo. Murphy was noted to have increased his velo this offseason. Watched part of an interview that Chris Bassitt did and he had a similar take: To me, if you are trying to maximize the performance of the human body, it's going to breakdown at some point.
  11. Crawford has pitched well and I'm relatively hopeful that Bello is a decent starter. Just the pivot to Pivetta being a potential Opening Day starter is GRIM. If I posted last May that Pivetta was 50/50 the Opening Day starter this year, I don't think it would have went over well.
  12. A big difference is that baseball currently has an antitrust exemption.
  13. I wouldn't mind if if they limited the amount of active players per game.
  14. Vampires and mirrors, a classic confrontation.
  15. The collusion that happened in the 80's was on a much greater scale. From 85-86, only 8 FA's switched teams and the average MLB salary decreased.
  16. We only know what has been reported. Snell had a 150M offer that he turned down. Monty wants 7 years, but has turned down other offers.
  17. Yeah, I can't hold out hope anymore. The goodwill is over for me.
  18. Kjerstad, Caminero, Manzardo, Schanuel, Carter
  19. It seemed like he believed the Red Sox, Yankees or Mets would come around and bail him out at the end again. It just didn't happen.
  20. @IanMBrowne Kenley Jansen was again scratched today with lower back tightness. He needs to get right in the next day or two to start the season on the active roster. Starting the year on the IL IMO.
  21. The Dodgers, Phillies, Royals, Giants kept spending. When the Red Sox are outspent by the Pirates, it's a problem with a particular team and not collusion.
  22. The Boras clients were all flawed FA's that were expecting way too much this offseason. Bauer didn't have a contract last year. It's not surprising Urias is unsigned at all. Clevinger? Other unsigned pitchers: Lorenzen Greinke Hill Syndergaard
  23. Tanking, but not for a high draft pick. They may acquire some other prospects via trades, but I think Breslow is using this year to evaluate what he has.
