  1. Nah, it's the whole "draft pick if he's good, stuck with him if he stinks" part that raises the eyebrows.
  2. I think they already screwed up their perception pretty badly. People would now just say "they had to do it."
  3. Roki will just hand select whatever team he wants to go to since he's going to be limited to Int'l bonus pool restrictions.
  4. It's like my two kids. Every morning, they fight before school. No matter what we do as parents and how we coach the children, they are just magnets to each other. The rest of the day, they get along fine. First thing in the morning, they are both grumpy and just miserable and need to leave each other alone.
  5. Or a trade at the deadline? Sox may be over the CBT at the deadline and it would be a waste to go the QO route as you'd only get a 4th rounder on a QO offer.
  6. Could trade him at the deadline or offer him a QO? A team like the Sox should have at least gotten him on a 2 year deal unless they had something bigger planned for next year.
  7. When you look at his statcast page, he's never been above 60th percentile for xERA, xBA, xSLG, xISO, K%. He's a fine pitcher who gives you a lot of innings without walking batters. If the Sox were going to put a really good IF defense out there, it'd make sense for them to lock him up. He's a better version of Derek Lowe IMO. Lowe was a pretty good pitcher until his late 30's. If Montgomery avoids injury, he could be decent. He's become a better pitcher as he's thrown his sinker more (up to 42% last year, was in the 20's in 20-21 and 30's in 22).
  8. Can't happen until Lebron retires, I believe. As an investor in FSG, he can't be an active owner of an NBA team as a player.
  9. So above average that the Yankees didn't want him on their post season roster.
  10. He needs to take a step back and let Crag do his thing. Also, get Sam and Tom away from the mic. Let Crag clear out whatever EVP he feels is superfluous.
  11. Two years of Crag slander on here!
  12. He's a #2 now, sure. Does that earn him the deal he's looking for? IDK. I can see why some teams shy away from giving him more than Nola since he doesn't have that track record.
  13. Being 40-60% is average. C'mon man. That's like saying if you're 49th percentile you're above average.
  14. I disagree with the multiple year "well he's listed as the top 50 if you cut off innings at this point..." He was average prior to 2023.
  15. They weren't saying yes to Betts.
  16. And extend Raffy earlier for cheaper money! I just don't understand why the Sox are the way they are.
  17. If it goes badly, we're stuck with him!
  18. Very bogus too. These are the guys that left before he took over: Holt Pearce Moreland Porcello Cashner Chacin Wright Owings Gorkys Josh Smith That's 10 guys, most of which were at the bottom end of the 40 man. 5 guys to replace. Brought back Moreland. Replaced Holt with Arauz/Peraza. Was it that hard to replace Pearce, Porcello and Cashner? He never tried to replace Porcello. He replaced Cashner with Perez. Pearce was upgraded with Pillar. Nobody is worried about losing Chacin, Wright, Owings, Gorkys Hernandez or Josh Smith. All the other changes were made by Bloom.
  19. They seem to just be running it back this year.
  20. Maybe? We just don't know. His focus was probably on Betts at the time. Xander wasn't leaving until '22.
  21. Maybe? But why spend the money just to do it? HOU has to worry about Altuve and Bregman in the near future. Maybe they don't want to spend on Bellinger. Cleveland and Cincinnati aren't big spenders. SD is pulling back on spending since their owners death (likely splurged knowing what was going on with his health). The best fit is Chicago, but that ownership is wrapped up with the PGA stuff that Henry is involved in. Cubs and Sox just seem like they are not wanting to put their best foot forward anymore. The lovable Cubbies are getting more of a pass though.
  22. We don't know, but it would have likely been less than what the Padres offered him. Would he have taken the Story deal if they didn't sign Story?
  23. 2020 - Perez, Peraza, Pillar, Arauz, Munoz, Puello, Lucroy, Mazza, Springs, Weber, Valdez, Brice, Osich, Covey 2021 - Perez, Richards, Marwin, Sawamura, Ottavino, Andriese, Kiké, Whitlock, Renfroe 2022 - Story, JBJ, Wacha, Hill, Strahm, Diekman 2023 - Masa, Duvall, Mondessi, Tapia, Alfaro, Kluber, Martin, Jansen, Bleier, Joely Maybe moves I didn't like? To me, it looks like he hit on .333 of the above guys. Not really great. Should be closer to .500 IMO.
  24. What?!?!? Is this true?
