  1. And there's a chance he comes up and sucks too! It's on the table and always has been. He was just penciled in as the starter because the other options were runny dogshit.
  2. It still shouldn't be retired IMO.
  3. Well, the GM is the boss of the manager.
  4. Dalbec should be the backup 3B. I'd rather he start than Reyes.
  5. Wow, this guy is in LOVE with Grissom. He should marry him!
  6. Yes, Atlanta is more competitive these days.
  7. Nobody has ever said anything remotely about Grissom being a savior. There are no Grissom superfans here. I don't get some of this Grissom narrative that is building.
  8. SoxProspects has Campbell listed as 4th NOW. When he was initially acquired and at the start of ST, he was still on the bubble of AAA and last spot in the pen.
  9. What a guy. If they could rename Yawkey Way, they can TEAR DOWN THAT NUMBAH!!!
  10. No, Campbell was supposed to be a middle reliever and potentially a guy who started in AAA. I don't know how people thought he was pushed into a late inning role... When he was acquired, nobody thought he was an 8th inning guy.
  11. Entire career or 10 years with the Red Sox and retiring as a Red Sox? I can't follow those rules? Fisk is retired. Pesky is retired. Pedro is retired. Boggs is retired. Ortiz is retired. When their numbers were retired, each of those numbers didn't follow those rules. Maybe it's just like Whose Line is it Anyway?
  12. We're you watching the same game as I was? There were several miscues. Reyes couldn't come up with an easy grounder. Hamilton missed the bag. Wong couldn't come up with the ball cleanly and had to go to first. These plays put additional pitches onto the pitcher even if it doesn't cause more runs!!!!!!
  13. But they were still relying on Valdez/Reyes/Hamilton as emergency backups. Duran, you have to take the good and the bad with him. Rafaela, there's the learning curve of being young and under the bright lights for the first time. The catchers aren't great defensive players either. You already know 1B and 3B have issues. Easy enough to compliment the holes in the defense by replacing the cheap backups with guys that are defensively minded IMO.
  14. Salem may be the most exciting Sox team to watch so far. Salem Red Sox 8, Delmarva Shorebirds (BAL) 4 Natanael Yuten was the story as Salem kept the Delmarva squad winless on the year. The 19-year-old outfielder blasted a three-run homer in the 10th inning to cap off a 3-for-5 night. The Brothers Garcia were again key contributors as well. Johanfran blasted a two-run homer, his first long ball of the season, while Jhostynxon had an RBI double, two runs scored, and two stolen bases. I know POR has all the big names, but there's just something about the guys in Salem that are fun to watch. Garcia Bros Bleis Nelly Taylor Yuten Antonio Anderson The starting pitchers aren't top 10 guys, but decent enough names too (Paez, Cruz, Duffy, Dean).
  15. From JANUARY: Red Sox chairman Tom Werner to @TomCaron - “We wouldn’t be having this conversation if we had league average defense” Says someone in the front office told him last night they would have had 9 to 10 more wins with league average defense. They weren't wrong!
  16. Not sure if this was when the game was truly over or when Deez Nuts Hamilton missed the bag.
  17. Going from singing Tessie at America's Most Beloved Ballpark to a fake job like President of the American League is a huge step down. Obviously fired for poor performance. Guy never even got the team into the playoffs. LOSER. Take his number off the facade! Give #4 to Marcelo!
  18. Well, they really didn't change the roster all that much so why would they be better defensively?
  19. Gotta start some of that planning now.
  20. This isn't the best post for it, but... 1. The team needs an ACE. Identify the prospects you want to keep and trade the others to get one. 2. Trade Yoshida even if you have to eat the contract. Just admit the mistake. Even his upside isn't enough for a fulltime DH. 3. Treat Story as if he's the DH/2B/SS. You can no longer plug him in as a starter on your 26 man roster. You need to mentally move on. If he can fill in from time to time in the IF, great. If not, it's easier to replace and injured DH. 4. Mayer becomes the Opening Day SS and you need to take whatever lumps come his way. There may be a learning curve, but it is what it is. 5. If Grissom doesn't show to be a starter at 2B during 2024, Sox need to actually find someone who can project to go out and field the position 150 times a year (not named Story). Gleyber Torres? Kim? Trade? We know they have a bunch of guys on the farm (Paulino, Meidroth, Sogard, Yorke), but I'm not sure we're comfortable going to them at the moment. 6. Determine if Slaten is the 8th inning guy or 9th inning guy and find a complimentary piece to go along with him. Continue to build out the pen. 7. Anthony is the Opening Day RF. Rafaela is the Opening Day CF. Duran is the Opening Day LF. That should be the OF for 120+ games year in and year out until someone better comes along. 8. Extend Casas only if the deal is reasonable. Don't overextend for a guy that isn't the complete package yet. Not every player is the next Mookie Betts.
  21. I'm not sure there is a huge reason to trade Reese at the deadline. He'd only bring back a reliever or middling prospect. Probably better to hold onto him just in case you need him at some point. If his trade value was higher, sure.
  22. Thank god…
