  1. At least more fans are waking up about it.
  2. Story's offense will be better than 2023 Yu Chang and Kiké. I'm really going out on a limb there.
  3. This team was pretty bad last year. Defensively, they should be better than last year. They won't even pick in the top 10 this year. They would really have to drop off substantially to be one of the dregs of MLB. They are just a mediocre ballclub. Purgatory.
  4. For all his faults, I'm not sure egotistical is at the top of the list. I think he's spread too thin in too many ventures (absenteeism). He's greedy for sure and has surrounded himself with yes men.
  5. The bullpen was really good. The lineup was good until the late season swoon. The starting rotation was bad. The defense was atrocious. If the first two stay the same, some work on the margins of the last two could get them above .500. It's not a playoff team though.
  6. It's just not a reasonable expectation that every pitcher has an optimal season. Some will be better, some will be worse (injury or otherwise). Without adding higher quality arms, the team most likely won't be in a better spot than last year. The best hope is for health and that they aren't relying on bullpen games or openers from Ort/Jacques/et al.
  7. For me, it's just that the farm is very barren of pitching talent (ranked 29th). They had opportunities to trade expiring contracts for young pitching and we didn't do it. I'm told that they will trade for a controllable starter, but they haven't done that yet. Revamping a pitching pipeline takes time and right now, I'm not sure they even have the right horses in the stable.
  8. Yes, and that’s why I’d be up for meeting anyone from here.
  9. No difference.
  10. You wrote “imagine what if… his cancer returned.” I didn’t read anything into it.
  11. “What if there was an alternate reality where Lester got cancer again” - moon
  12. Lame. I’d meet up with Old Red if he was nearby. What’s the big deal?
  13. Ownership is spread so thin, they need someone who cares about the product on the field again.
  14. His last post was June 2015 if you search for his username.
  15. I was thinking about a few years AFTER the original purge in 2012. He was around for a bit longer than that until he had a deeply unhinged post about thunder.
  16. Price wasn’t much of a step up at the time and fans prefer continuity over the grass is greener. The Lester decision was mind boggling. Making black and white declarations like “no pitchers over 30” always comes back to haunt you too. It was just an instance of Henry bullying Ben.
  17. All of us at once vs you would kick your ass, son.
  18. That’s my line.
  19. “According to people with an understanding of the arrangement between Epstein and the Red Sox, he was brought back into the fold, at least in part, due to Red Sox ownership privately acknowledging that they have, at times, not given the club the attention it has deserved in recent years as the FSG portfolio has rapidly grown.” No s***.
  20. They signed Price because they realized the mistake they made in letting Lester go. This team has a habit of making dumb decisions based on faulty ownership reasoning and then playing cleanup a year or two later.
  21. I’m not saying how Cora handled the pitchers in 18 or 19 was wrong. Henry’s reaction to 19 was though. I think tearing the whole thing down over 4 years was a horrible way to do it. Instead of a 4-5 year rebuild, it’s now a 6-8.
  22. JBJ had a similar incident too. At least with Price he was standing up for a teammate. IDK. Bad look. Players nowadays have been coddled since tball and any criticism just wilts them.
  23. Crag loves his catchers. I thinks it’s good for pitching development to have high quality catchers in the upper minors. Last year it was Alfaro and Scott. Not a great combo.
  24. They went slow with the starters in April and the team never caught back up. One bad year shouldn’t doom a franchise though considering what we’re looking at now.
  25. When I met YOTN, I was just disappointed he didn’t look like a Star Trek character.
