  1. Refsnyder RF, Duran LF, O’Neill DH, Devers 3B, Wong C, Gonzalez 1B, Westbrook 2B, Rafaela CF, Hamilton SS
  2. @alexspeier In this story on the Sox’ efforts to scout and draft for upside based on what they’re good at developing: A look at what the Sox *do* think they are good at developing, and what they see is less developable skills @redsoxstats Multiple people I've talked to about this article have had the same first thought: Cam Smith
  3. Not surprising. I will not point and laugh at those that wanted to keep Wingenter close to Bailey. He'll be fine down in WOO as well.
  4. 2015: Kolby Allard (14), Brady Aiken (17), Ashe Russell (21), Beau Burrows (22) 2016: Ian Anderson (3), Riley Pint (4), Braxton Garrett (7), Matt Manning (9), Jay Groome (12), Forest Whitley (17) 2017: Hunter Greene (2), Mackenzie Gore (3), Shane Baz (12), Trevor Rogers (13), DL Hall (21) 2018: Ryan Weathers (7), Carter Stewart (8), Grayson Rodriguez (11), Cole Winn (15), Matthew Liberatore (16), Mason Denaburg (27), JT Ginn (30) 2019: Quinn Priester (18), Daniel Espino (24), Blake Walston (26) 2020: Mick Abel (15), Nick Bitsko (24) 2021: Jackson Jobe (3), Frank Mozzicato (7), Andrew Painter (13), Chase Petty (26), Maddux Bruns (29) Seems like the most of the best talent here had injury issues.
  5. Went over the cap and then signed two FA's that faceplanted the next offseason. That's a whoopsiedoodle!
  6. Tut tut, let's just skip over 2020 for the sake of MY argument!!!
  7. I'm not arguing anything different. Henry has not spent recently. The only time they went over the cap since '19 was accidentally in '22. We have heard there's a firm budget. We don't know where that budget is. It could be lower than the CBT. It may not be. None of us on here knows. We do know that the guy who went over the cap got his ass fired.
  8. Well, when the Sox can get a Matt Duffy type to work out, I'll be on board. I'd rather go for some high octane (not simply velo) arms that have a decent ceiling.
  9. @SoxProspects Chansol Lee made his FCL Red Sox debut today working a scoreless first inning. The 18-year-old Korean righty was signed for a $300,000 bonus in July 2023.
  10. Henry's "problem with money" goes back before the previous two deadlines. You can't just ignore the elephant in the closet. At times, he has spent. At other times, he has not spent. We are in a spot where the spending is down and FSG is looking elsewhere. Can the Sox get the payroll up again? Maybe?
  11. HS pitching is very high risk, high reward. I just hope they get away from the "pitchability" archetype they were drafting in the Bloom years.
  12. Not sure when they updated the scouting report, but they often mention on the podcast that Mayer will most likely have to move to 3b sooner than later. I'm not rooting against him and am thankful that he's playing well this year. I was a little down on him last year, but was hopeful it was just due to the shoulder injury.
  13. They'll need to get one to replace Mayer in a few years anyway!
  14. The series before the deadline are: 3 KC 3 @ LAD 3 @ COL 3 NYY 3 SEA Need to go 9-6? That would have them at a 90 win pace at the deadline.
  15. Oh, it was totally a good decision to let Mookie walk. That definitely didn't put this team on a downward spiral or anything.
  16. Westbrook has a higher OPS than Senzel against LHP. Not sure Senzel will ever reach the ceiling people once thought he had. He's also a dreadful fielder.
  17. He's getting ready for softball in a year or two.
  18. @redsoxstats BA has finally changed course for the Sox in the mocks, this morning going: 12. Red Sox — Trey Yesavage, RHP, East Carolina Yesavage throws 94-97 with good ride on his fastball, and his slider this year had a 57% whiff rate and his split-change got 55% whiffs, both in the 98/99th percentile. I like that profile!
  19. I trust Breslow is doing due diligence to find moves to make this team better. Whether he has enough $$$ from Henry to make the moves, we don't know. I disregard whatever Sam Wormtongue says now. It'd be nice to be able to like a local guy like that, but miss me with his ******** act.
  20. The only evidence is that scouts say it, SoxProspects say it and his defense is just average to slightly above average right now. It's only going to get worse.
  21. @MattCouture5 Justin Turner really is the perfect add for this Red Sox team 1) will likely be dirt cheap via trade and could likely get the Blue Jays to eat a chunk of his remaining salary too 2) Fits a need of an upgraded right handed bat that can play 1B 3) Red Sox fans love him and he loves Boston. Great locker room guy. Good leader. 4) Playoff experience. Clutch hitter 812 OPS vs LHP this year too.
  22. The rumor was that he was looking for a veteran starting pitcher. No idea what spot in the rotation that would be for or what he's willing to give up. Sammy stated that FSG is willing to SPEND for any player if the deal was right. I won't believe it until I see it though.
  23. The platoon issue and offspeed stuff has been noted by scouts going back a few years. Feel free to be made at me about it though. I was just listing the reasons that I think he's more expendable than Teel or Anthony.
  24. Learning to hit in his 30's is ignoring the full season total for 2021: 701 OPS. He only had 64 PA's with BOS that year. The only reason I'd not bring him back is he isn't really a SS anymore and that's where he had the most value. -2 OAA, 6th percentile arm strength. If they are just finding another 2B/3B type, I think they can do better.
