  1. That's what I'd do with him, or have him ready for the Opening Day rotation in case Giolito or someone else isn't ready. Option him to AAA after and wait for the next injury to recall.
  2. 74th in HR/FB% 73rd in HR/9 7th most in FB% 69th in IFFB% 5th highest in Hard Contact % Since Pivetta gives up TANKS, his xFIP can be ignored as it uses an MLB average of HR's allowed rather than Pivetta's actual HR's allowed in the calculation (unlike FIP). That's why his FIP is closer to his ERA and his xFIP is way lower. xFIP assumes that he'll stop giving up bombs, but he has a history of being a guy who gives up more HR's than an average MLB pitcher. He has a great k/bb%, but just gives up loud contact that often reaches the bleachers.
  3. It's just a bad argument. There is a PR hit with Chapman, but it's nothing compared to the ongoing PR hit that they'd get with Bauer.
  4. His 4 seamer was his worst pitch last year per RV/100. Whiff rate is way down on that.
  5. Chapman = waning closer, but still above average Hendriks = question mark Slaten = plus Weissert = plus Bernardino = average Winckowski = average Wilson = mop up Kelly/Whitlock/Guerrero/Penrod = a lot of options to throw at the wall to see what sticks Seems like an average bullpen to me? I think most of us have wanted one other high leverage arm to put in there. I know Martin wanted to come back.
  6. But that Mick guy said the signing would be announced by the Sox in a press conference mid week?!?!?!? Mets 30% TOR 20% LAD 20% BOS 15% NYY 15%
  7. Criswell also has an extra option and may start in AAA.
  8. What Bregman did was so beyond the pale that he wasn't even suspended or fined for it.
  9. Signing the Wilsons of the world to pitch the 6th inning isn't the problem. Signing Chapman is really dumb. Letting Soto go elsewhere will be really dumb. Not getting a TOTR starter will be really dumb.
  10. He's going to get too much money for not enough return. Pass.
  11. Chapman is an MLB pitcher and a horrible human being. Bauer is not an MLB pitcher and a horrible human being. I don't want either on my team.
  12. They floated Adames and nobody really bit on it. I know Bregman, Fried and Burnes have been considered. I wonder if they end up just going with Alex Cobb (doesn't throw a 4 seamer) and Tyler O'Neilll?
  13. Hendriks hasn't had a high powered arm since he was out of baseball after 2022. I'm worried that he doesn't have a 9th inning repertoire anymore. Slaten hasn't really been that guy. Whitlock either. Both have been more setup. Slaten could develop into that guy. I don't see Whitlock as that guy going forward.
  14. If they miss out on Soto, stick a fork in 2025. I'll be excited to watch the kids come up, but they'll still be a .500 team.
  15. Quick, someone tell Soto that Boston is the HUB of the universe!
  16. Combo of both, plus former Yankee with those two issues attached. Just gross all around.
  17. 1. David Wright 2. Strawberry 3. Beltran 4. Reyes 5. Keith Hernandez Lindor has a chance to become #1 by the end of his contract.
