    There's a lot to like, but his defense never improved and he can't stay on the field.

    Now is when they should be spending. We'll see if they actually do it. I think the extensions they agreed to last year were dumb and were solely meant to appease fans.

    The first ARod contract was a great deal. He was an all-time talent and hit the crap out of the ball from 01-09. It's a shame they moved him off of SS for Jeter. ARod ended his career with 117 bWAR! He's second only to Honus Wagner in SS bWAR. He had a career 140 OPS+, won 3 MVPs and was top 5 in MVP voting 6 times! That's just video game numbers.

    I think the Sox offer is probably 4th out of the 5 offers. I think they made an offer just to show the fanbase that they "are back." I don't entirely believe the spending will actually increase all that much. Maybe they sign one TOTR starter like Fried or Burnes and call it a day.

    Huh? He was thrown to the pen in SF and only posted 0.3 bWAR. He wasn't very good in SF at all. His last good season was 2021 in OAK.

    Monty should start in Greenville, which is where the college bats that he was drafted with went to at the end of last year.

    If the depth in the system is MIF and OF, why invest a lot of money in guys like Adames and Arenado? Soto is an otherworldly talent that makes sense. These other two don't really push the needle past the ceilings of internal options that will be cheap as all get out.

    I can see Hamilton sticking around for awhile. People prefer Romy, but he's very replaceable IMO.

    I'm very willing to move on from Wong if Teel is ready. Maybe they make Wong a UTIL type guy for a few weeks until they are sure about Teel and then deal Wong? IDK. There is a chance Teel doesn't appear until 2026 and I'm ok with it.

    The one thing about Arenado is he is a dead pull hitter (45%+). However, I think he has more of a line drive swing and would lose HR's to the monster that would turn to doubles.

    I don't want any part of Adames. I'd trade for Arenado if STL was willing to take Masa's full contract and a mid level prospect.

    Put Cora, Ramon Vazquez and Jose Flores (infield instructor) on a plane to DR and have a sit down with Devers. I'm sure they can work it out. The person who should be worried about this conversation is Casas.

    I mentioned Diaz previously as he could be very cheap and come on a one year deal. Some of the other catchers seem like imperfect fits.

    In '23 he had a good arm and pop time. He was terrible at framing, but he could control the baserunners a bit. Last year, he was just bad. I think injuries played into his arm/pop time set backs this year, but I don't see him figuring out the framing/blocking stuff. It just depends on what Breslow values. As a former pitcher, I bet he cares about framing and stealing an extra strike or two.

    And Casas is a terrible 1B that struggles to stay healthy.

    Why Arenado? Adding an expensive contract for an aging player? I'm not into it. Unless they are expecting a Mike Lowell turnaround. He's two years older than when they acquired Lowell though.

    The O's are in on him as well and Burnes just left. Hard to really say as it's still early in the offseason. I don't know if he signs before Christmas.
